Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Benzema the only Madrid front player really fronting up so far this half.

Ronaldo was doing well up until the goal. Real have really lost their way in general.

Suarez is not used enough in the barca team at all

You have to feel sorry for the refs, the ****e they have to put up with

He's been their best player IMO all the same.

I much prefer the way the game is being refereed right now.

Few fouls let go IMO. That isn't a good thing.

Real will nick a draw here.

Seems like the ref is over compensating for giving a few light fouls early. No consistency.

Casillas now keeping real in it

Barca should have gotten a 3rd at this stage. Casillas keeping Real in it.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

Blame the theatrics on modern football culture.

Until physicality of some sort is allowed and retrospective punishments for diving are brought in, this can only be expected. How can you blame the players?

He was card happy too early, if he kept it up it would 9 v 8

Mascherano incident aside, the theatrics add to the spectacle that is El Classico IMO.

How was that not a foul.

Yeah for all the praise it hasn't been the best performance, not easy for him with all the play acting

Id be very surprised if Bale is at R.Madrid next season

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,625 ✭✭✭✭Johner

Barca should be out of sight.

Barca butchering chances all second half.

The fee is too big for him, and the fanbase is too mental.

Real can have no complaints. Game of 2 halves but Barca's second was significantly better than Real's 1st.

    Barca probably deserve that, just.

Casillas made a few saves to keep it close but real looked out of ideas.

  • Moderators, Regional East Moderators Posts: 23,231 Mod ✭✭✭✭GLaDOS

Full time, 2-1. Barca the better in the second half, Madrid punished for not taking advantage of their ascendancy in the first.

Great goal by Suarez to win it.

Very entertaining game for the neutral.

I dont know. Some clubs probably have more money than sense
Even when Madrid were on top in the first half he was struggling to get involved.

Its been like that all season and some of last season. If you believe the newspaper talks, himself and Ronaldo dont get on. That could be another nail in the coffin

Dominant half by Barca there. Deserve their win. Casillas kept Madrid in it that half.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,136 ✭✭✭✭Rayne Wooney

Barca deserved it in the end

Madrid in control at one stage but lost it, Bale was useless

Can see him being sold on in the summer, Real should be making a considerable loss, I'd take him at United for 40-50 million

Poor second half from Real, never reacted to Barca not being as poor, which was always going to happen. The link up between the forward players which was very good in the first half, was really poor in the second half. Attempting really tough passes just for the sake of it.

I dont think Barca were great or anything like it, Real just didnt give them enough to think about in defence.

I'm not sure I buy it. That's likely just media sh*t stirring. Ronaldo has repeatedly defended him publicly and Bale always looks to play in Ronaldo when they are on the pitch.

    Because they perpetuate it?
    Where would he go?
Manchester United. Only club for Bale.

Entertaining enough game. Thought Madrid had Barcelona on the ropes in the first half and could have finished it there. Once Barcelona went ahead Madrid never really looked like getting back in to it. Madrid looked really tired in the last 20.

The play acting has gotten to a ridiculous stage. It's embarrasing.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,868 ✭✭✭Andersonisgod

Beauty overcame the beast, the first half was pretty suspect but Barcelona clicked into gear in the second half as they wrestled the midfield domination away from Real Madrid.

It's Luis Suarez the hero, his moment of sheer brilliance won the game and struck a hammer blow to the heart of Real Madrid's title hopes. His chasing set the tempo, his movement provided trouble to the Real Madrid backline that they struggled to deal with. Today he was the catalyst for a Clasico victory.

Ronaldo hit the crossbar, scored, and was booked for diving.

Messi might not have scored, yet he had far more influence on the game.

For players that are compared constantly, they are very contrasting in their styles.

Hmm both teams were guilty of some ugly behaviour, and Madrid had spells of dominance throughout the game, as well as some great attacking play in the first half. Barca were more consistent, more composed, and MSN are simply more gifted footballers than BBC.

Messi is given a free role, Ronaldo is told to stay on the wing.

I'm not Ronaldo fanboy and have criticized him severely in the past, but its no surprise that Messi saw more of the ball tonight. Ronaldo stuck to his job. If he was given a free role, he would be just as influential.

    Leaving happy.
