Is this ref having a laugh? Coleman being fouled all night and his first gets him a yellow.

    Bloody joke!

Poles seemingly unable to get booked.

What the hell is Keane supposed to do when there's balls being launched at him so high that there's snow on them? He needs the ball in to feet. The midfield has been non existent, I dont remember McCarthy's name being mentioned so far.

    Bring on Shane Long.

Coleman out of the Scotland game now.

Absolute joke of a ref, no Polish lads booked and Coleman gets booked for his first foul, bull****!

It's because Coleman doesn't roll around like he's been shot every time he's kicked. Maybe he's too honest.

    Ref is becoming a joke

He's been spot on, we are just too ill disaplined

  • Registered Users Posts: 330 ✭✭*Hank Scorpio*

    Ref thinks hes in Warsaw.

McCarthy just doesn't feel the same when Gareth Barry is not with him.

No he's not, you need 3 yellows to get a ban

Actually amazing no Polish players have been booked yet considering some of the tackles. And 3 Irish have.

We're not going to finish this game with 11 players with this ref!!

Is there a need for Whelan in the second half? We are now chasing the game after all. Long on for him?

Don't think so. They said earlier it is a 3 yellow card rule. Only a Polish lad in this game can miss the next match with a yellow.

He's actually a great role model. Great player and not prone to diving, and seems like a decent lad too

I think they can squeeze a goal in the second half.

Phew! Pretty sad that that's the only positive that can be taken from this first half.

That was a pathetic 45 minutes

Has Keane won 1 ball or made 1 pass?

    Or maybe:

    "for me Clive, that's better".

I think we did okay in the last bit there. Hopefully Martin and Roy can change things a bit.

Poland are not world beaters...we just aren't doing ourselves any favours.

I'd go for that. Get some support on for Keane and drop Hoolahan a bit deeper with McCarthy holding. Whelan offers nothing anyway.

its been mentioned loads of times.

mainly when people have asked "Wheres james McCarthy?"

So you think Coleman should have got a yellow there? But the lad he took the ball off and then just kicked out at him shouldn't? Right

He would want to be a giraffe to get near any of the balls flung anywhere near the box so not much he can do there and when hes not got the ball he cant pass it. He isnt the one at fault here.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,369 ✭✭✭LostBoy101

McCarthy doesn't work well when Whelan is just passing the ball sidewards and backwards. Whelan needs a kick up the hole by Roy Keane on how to do it properly as Hoolahan had to drift inside to do his job for him.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,006 ✭✭✭edgecutter

Need to get at these Poles. They haven't been very good, but we continue to keep making the same mistakes.

This game is bypassing Keane and he should probably come off.

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,292 ✭✭✭Adamocovic

Lots of good possession but haven't tested Fabianski yet, pity, we are playing some nice football at times at the moment the only negative is that one mistake which caused a goal.

Awful stuff from Ireland, didn't look like the players knew what the game plan was starting out. Brady is having a shocker and the lack of showing for the ball throughout the team is poor. Improved slightly in the last 5 mins but can't see us holding out in the 2nd half.

As someone said you have to wonder what MON was doing with the players all week, they look clueless and the defence is all over the place.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,316 ✭✭✭✭briany

Playing really afraid. It's not a performance that gives me any kind of confidence and if they're beaten tonight, that's effectively it for their hopes of getting out of the group. Mathematically there'd be nothing stopping them, but absolutely nothing that would give hope of righting their situation.

Never understood the appeal of Whelan. Never seems to show up and far too safe for games when we need a win.

Either stick Long on for Keane and keep the current system, or get Long on for Hoolahan and go for broke. Something needs to change as Poland bossed that half without having to do too much.

I like MON but he's got his tactics and team selection wrong.

Yes I thought Colemans was a yellow. I also thought the foul on Coleman on there 18 was one

The ref is not the problem here he's just someone to vent at

We have been diabolical that's why we are losing

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,343 ✭✭✭PropJoe10

Ireland have been nearly as bad as RTE Player. Fuppin awful.

Whelan gets his fair amount of stick but really McCarthy has been no better than him recently.

O'Shea really poor for their goal, making himself as small as possible

lads we're still third in The World and have just won the ....

    **** wrong forum

Nah but in all seriousness, when you see a match with Whelan carrying the ball forward you know nobody else is playing.
McGeady is getting there and I think a bit of pace would really rattle those wings and force a lot more corners and throws to make a set piece out of.

All and all, if somebody had've offered me 1-0 at half time I probably would have taken it at this stage.

All to play for, nothing to lose.
