As the thread title says, it's meat-free week in the UK - here's a link to the website: https://uk.meatfreeweek.org/home. Lots of info and recipes.

Mixed feelings about the likes of Jamie Oliver, and other chefs who make the majority of their living from meat, being ambassadors but I guess it's a start.

Yeah I really don't know how to feel about Jamie Oliver.

Here's a vid of him talking about veganism with Tim Shieff if you're interested.

What famous vegan or vegetarian chef would you like to spread the whole idea of not eating meat? I'm struggling to think of any that will help to push the message mainstream which is surely the idea?

To be fair to Jamie Oliver, a lot of his recipes are actually meat free. His 30 minute meals were one fo the few cooking shows I liked to watch, as chances were it would be something I could make myself.

I've had a look at the recipes on the website - a good few of them will be difficult to make as I wouldn't be able to get one or more of the main ingredients in Cork :(

Do you know anyone who took part in meat free week? I pay very little heed to those kind of campaigns, veganuary, meat free week, meat out etc, I sorta doubt they achieve very much but I think they're pretty harmless. I don't mind Jamie Oliver & co. but at the same time I wish people would give up using one person to credit or discredit an entire social justice movement, I don't think vegetarianism/veganism is about policing celebrities :D

There were a couple of annoying articles from the guardian during the week about meat free week, seems these campaign days just become an excuse to attack us, all publicity is good publicity, I don't know?
