    Howdy folks, My wife had a crash off the road bike last Saturday on a club spin. Nothing broken thankfully but a lot of nasty looking road rash.

    So, how do ye treat it? Its really raw looking but not to deep, its starting to scab over now and its really hurting.
    (we went to the doctor and she just said to keep it clean and rest)

    Any advise would be great.

    Thanks.

    Burneze gel... you need to keep it moist. I used it last year and it cools it as well. one of the paramedics gave it to me in the ambulance.

    Raw egg whites, same as burneze but cheaper and more effective.

    As per Doctor, just keep it clean and try to avoid reopening the wound.

    Keep an eye out for any infection, a few key items to looks for are;

    a) Any puss / yellow scab
    b) Increased redness around edge of scab
    c) Increased tenderness

    If in doubt, go back to Doc.

    Had this very problem last year. It's extremely sore.

    I cleaned it and used Sudocrem on it and it healed it up nicely.

    Be wary, Raw egg whites could easily be "same as burneze but with added salmonella".

    I would not put raw eggs on broken skin.
