Savage show this evening , only thing I'm not sure on is was Rhodes senior in on the whole thing or did Chuck leave him in the dark just to catch Axe out ?

Will there be any compensation for the lost trades if Axe's actions come to light ?

He had an iffy relationship with his father so I would say left him in the dark.

I love how the by-the-book guy is back too. And how you can see the series could go on when/if Chuck and Axe are gone.

I haven't re-watched the episode but just before Chuck brought the investment to his father he had a "discussion" with him so I think Chuck was willing to put poor pops under the bus.

Not to mention poor Ira :(

regardless of whether or not you like Axe do you think is wife is been a bit unfair to him? as far as I can see he did 2 things wrong with her - lied about Wendy and didn't back her in her fluid drip business that she tried to start. apart from that I think he has been very good and could be a lot worse?

That was one of the best episodes of any TV show I have ever seen, ruthless stuff :D

His wife is a bitch. But Axelrod is scum. So, they're pretty deserving of each other. Also, she's married to a serial liar and someone for whom humanity means little, when compared to money. So it's a bit hard to believe that this is her first experiences of his lies, either first hand or otherwise and I'm sure she's had many calls before, but her own love of shillings probably...ahem..."clouded" her judgement.

As far as the latest events in the show are concerned, it's also hard to believe how Axe Capital is going to bounce back from this. When this evidence gets out into the media, something like that will ruin a company in real life. Even if it can't be directly tied to Axelrod or Axe Cap itself.

Unless there's a humdinger of a twist coming up in the next episode. It'll have to be really something to match the brilliant ending of S02E11.

I think the answer to any comeback lies in Taylor. How it'll be done I have no idea though. I always thought he was using IceJuice to suck Axe in, was beginning to doubt it then last night happened!

I think next week will plough on at the same story with it finishing with Chuck and Axe talking like S1, Chuck reminding him what he said!

Had heard this was a great episode but found it a bit underwhelming tbh. Did nobody else think Chuck had a plan when he suddenly changed his mind about the Ice Juice IPO and using his trust fund? Seemed a drastic change of mind to me and hinted at some plan to catch out Axe

it looks as if its going to be a bit doom and gloom for axe but I think that wendy shorting juice and chucks father investing in the land for the real estate will come back to haunt Chuck. one thing that is a little confusing - Axe put a lot of work into backing up the short on the motor company but he doesn't seem to have any work done on the short of the juice company?

They have Taylor and Waus run the details and they both said there was no opportunities for it to fail so Axe had to create his own

I thought it was a plan, but it worked so well. Axe has always been wholly confident in what he is doing, it's going to come crashing down on him. How it was portrayed on screen was also excellent.

Agree with poster who thinks Wendy putting money on the short will haunt Chuck!

I knew Chuck had a plan involving Ice Juice but I had no idea what it was. I didn't see him throwing all his money away just to catch Axe so it was surprising.

I imagine Axe will use the fact that Rhodes were on both sides of the trade as some leverage...

My wife had said last week that Chuck was using Ice Juice to do Axe, but was doubting herself last night until the big reveal. If Axe goes down there'll be no season three, so something is going to happen, most likely Wendy's actions scuppering a prosecution.

I also with the poster above that Axe and his wife are well-suited; both are as bad as each other, and I'm glad to see her scumbag brothers (or are they friends?) get done too (if that's what happens). She reminds me a lot of Carmello Soprano - happy to sit back and let her husband make money by nefarious means but just as ready to stick a knife in if she wants.

The two things that couldn't have been in Chuck's plan:
    • His Dad increasing the stake and putting the whole trust in, and
    • Wendy getting involved in insider dealing on the same deal
If Chuck does take down Axe with insider dealing, then Wendy will be caught as well. If he doesn't, he has lost the trust fund altgether, as opposed to the original amount he was happy to sacrifice.

Re Axe's wife, she said to him before that she thought their relationship was different, that she was an equal partner and he never lied to her. When he lied to her, and didn't support her startup idea, she saw that wasn't the case.

That's probably the only "out" that will allow a third series and I can't see Showtime just calling it a day on the show.

I thought there was a look between them when Ira said he quit his job that maybe they both knew what was coming

That most recent episode is excellent. Holy moly.

I think the one kicker for Rhodes is that his father told the other lawyer guy that Rhodes invested money. That may come back to bite him.

But, is there not some sort of entrapment going on there and that Rhodes himself is the catalyst for Axe manipulating the markets?

I'll spoiler this just in case but
Has Chuck spent his entire trust fund just to bring Axe down? Plus all of his father's money? I expect Axe will threaten to bring Wendy down with him, say she also used the inside information to profit. Which is technically true.
But remember Wendy last week said "what's mine is yours" then he was a dick to her knowing she would bet against him. He may have lot all his trust fund, but his wife made that 10x over on the same day.

surely they cashed out in time
Not only did they not get out in time, Chuck Sr. bought another 750k at market when it was around $29.

But that was based on prior knowledge to the stock plummeting which would be illegal. Unless of course Axe has to pay up on it and she is ok.

Is his trust fund that important ? Doesn't his old boy still have a ball of other money in the casino land ?
How much did the wife make I wonder
