Places to drive to in south Dublin?

Love a cosy rainy drive with the misses only I only know the northside well i.e howth, donabate, dublin airport.. Is there any places like these on the Southside to explore where cars can just park up?

Being more serious though, if you can get to Wicklow (40 mins from town) go drive across Sally Gap to Blessington. It's incredible.

yeah sallygap is a nice drive.

Also spin out and come back through killiney,dalkey past the train station, up the vico road, some nice views there, bit of lunch in Dalkey village, go up killiney hill.. sorted

IMO, the sally gap is a horrid drive, road is tiny and its a baron landscape, the wicklow gap on the other hand is immense (a lot of people actually think the wicklow gap is the sally gap)

LOL, barren? Its the highest mountain pass in the country, of course it's barren! That's part of the charm of it. Definitely worth a drive, great doing it midweek during work hours, you might not see a car between Rathfarnham and Laragh. There's a great waterfall to stop at when you get to the laragh side of the gap. Also, if you're coming from the dublin side, great views of lough tay if you turn left at the crossroads.

Sally gap is fantastic, i love it up there. There are two roads that intersect so make sure to cover it all. Wicklow gap is beautiful also. If you dont want to go that far, hear up to Ticknock also.
