Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I'm in Naas lads about to head to Finlays to register - trust me, it's wet and windy here too at the moment.

Howling wind and rain in West Wicklow at the moment, though it isn't that cold really. Take care out there folks, and best wishes to all involved.

I'd say this is borderline on safety grounds.

I see a number of events and club spins being cancelled this morning.

Stay safe folks it will get windier once you're out of Naas.

It's amazing how it can be windy and wet in Dublin but no wind or rain in Naas.

I taking the piss??!! Horrendous weather just before start. Rained most of the wat, and a decent wind too. Tough. Averaged 27km but it nearly killed me.

Epic day out, once I had convinced myself that I wasn't mad I had a ball.
Really well run event, NCC were so unfortunate with the weather but still pulled out all the stops to look after those who turned up, plenty of food and hot drinks at the stops and finish and the soup was a lifesaver.

150km for me on the day with the spin over and back, definitely got my moneys worth.

Very wet and cold spin but glad I got outa bed!
Well done to NCC and all involved in running event thoroughly professional job done.

The worst of the rain and wind was just before the start but it was the cold that got to me. Couldn't understand how there was a lump under the bar tape until I realised that part of my index finger had gone numb. My other hand soon followed which made braking a bit tricky. Feeling eventually and painfully returned after twenty minutes at the snack stop in Donard. Getting back to Naas was greatly helped by teaming up with a few others.
Well done to all the organisers, helpers, marshalls and the photographer at Ballyknockan. Hopefully the Saplings school made a decent few bob despite the limited turn out.

Well done NCC. Thanks to the marshals who must have gotten soaked like the rest of us. More thanks to all the other volunteers. Back for more next year

Many thanks to the hardy souls who turned up today in less than favourable conditions and by less than favourable substitute horrendous! We had quite a few online registrations and donations but none the less an impressive number also turned up on the day. Chapeau to you all - take a bow. Saplings were the beneficiaries today and your suffering will help to buy specialised equipment for their school in Kill.
Thanks also to the marshals, static and motorbike for guiding us around, the medical and mechanical backup, the parents from Saplings for sign on and catering, the club volunteers who for once were probably delighted if the were not on the bike, the companies and individuals (too many to mention here) who sponsored the event in many ways and Naas Photography Group for the pix, some of which are online here...

Thanks and roll on the NCC Wicklow Peaks Challenge... is it too early to look at the weather forecast for 28th June??
    NCC.

Well done to NCC for a very well organised event. Food was great, markings were well done and marshals were excellent. But how unlucky were they with the weather?. I nearly got blown off the bike on the way to the start. Met a few fellows who got drowned wet on the way to Finlays and just went home. I planned to do the long spin but settled for the short spin due to impending hypothermia. And sod's law..... about six hours after the start the sun was out.

A slight miss truth, as it were :) in case people were on the fence as to come down and enjoy the spin!

I was there before 8 and registered for the 65km, as I had a decent spin on the legs yesterday.

Found it all very well organised, though I am no expert of these things as it was only my second Sportive.

All the volunteers were great and friendly. The food before the start was brilliant. A slice of swiss roll and a yogurt for breakfast? Whats not to like!

Fairplay to all the marshals and Motorbike peoples at the various points. That was some terrible weather to be standing about in.

There were plenty of little "bumps" to enjoy too :)

Again, well done to all involved and all who slogged the day out.

I was the sap in the "kitchen" at the end of the 65km warming his hands on the lid of the vegetable soup btw. :( Though on the back of that I got the chance to thank all "kitchen/registering" peoples before I left.

    My hands were in bits!

Great event! First of the year over with for me anyway.

Dithered a little about throwing in the towel at the 65km Route turnoff... but ploughed on "up that road". The rain hadn't helped but had a decent jacket on and just was pleased to have gotten around the course. Towards the end the weather had picked up nicely and there were some spectacular views down within the Glen. :-)

I gave up after Hollywood and headed back to Newbridge, was just too tempting, plus I was freezing by then. Fair play to anyone who did the full thing, and I saw a few people on Strava who seem to have done 130 or even 150km. Crazy, hard folks...

I was with you in the group heading across the Lake Drive (until I got dropped just before Ballyknockan), when I saw the Canyon with disk brakes it rang a bell but I didn't put two and two together till I saw the pictures on FB. Next time I'll say hello.

The two best decisions I've made in a long time were yesterday morning, A; to put on an extra layer and B; to pack a spare pair of gloves, sometimes small comforts make a big difference.
