Have to admit I didn't see SF taking the seat. On the face of it looked like Lynch or Buttimer combined would have enough to elect one or the other.

I could gauge him taking it from social media alone. My facebook was pasted in active voters supporting O'Laoighaire. Buttimer appeared to be absent. People have voted for Sinn Fein this time that never voted for them before.

Social media and internet in general is a terrible judge or electoral intent. SF are vastly over-represented on it. SF did terrible in reality compared to the perceived strength they have ion the internet.

This is going to take a long time to sort out.

I'm not convinced that it can and I wouldn't be surprised if we are back voting again.

l agree the bargaining is going to take a while but basically if FG/FF can't sort it out and we go again then how many of those FG/FF TD's will be out of a job in circa 1 Month's time ? They'd be nuts to go again.

FF are in an extremely strong bargaining position. Can see McGrath getting Finance Minister for example.

l was suprised too but fair play to him he had the hard work done.

I reckon a load of Lynch's votes went to SF in this election, which makes sense in the circumstances.

The group of death just got even harder.
