Back to the wind to predict rain?

    I was watching a program on BBC about weather or rain a few months ago and it gave a tip on how to predict if it'll rain. They said to stand with your back to the wind and look up to see what direction the clouds are moving. I can't remember which way they said that clouds moving would most likely mean rain, I do remember it was left or right. Was their tip correct and if it was which way predicts rain? I've tried searching but I can't get the question right.

    It would be moving left as that means the air is circulating around a depression. Its very much a rough guide though as lower and upper clouds can move in totally different directions, for example the the main pressure area is to the south!
