I remember that tackle. Can still feel it. Luke defo looked in bits after it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 983 ✭✭✭Greyian

The most amazing thing about that tackle is that it momentarily knocked 3 points off Leinster's score on the RTE scoreboard afterwards.

    Yep, me too.

But he a) got up and made a half-tackle on Earls and b) finished out the match. Nails.

I'll try to cheer us all up a bit, shall I?

I don't remember anything after leaving the stadium that day.

    Good times.

Brilliant day! Cost me a fortune and I didn't care. Still have the photos.

I think we let him go at the right time. He started the slow decline with Stade and he's playing D2 rugby now.

Ah, Stan had to go. He was sensational in the 2009/10 season and possibly the best prop in the country but he never recovered from that injury at the start of Schmidt's reign and he was done. He left at the right time and got himself a bit of a pay day.

I like to think he's out there somewhere in France now, playing some rugby, enjoying the sun over a glass of wine and a braised spaniel.

Ah in fairness, the guy is now 36 and he was never in the Brad Thorn league of gym-freaks, that he's still a pro player anywhere is impressive enough.

Once he ate Jamie Heaslip's dog, he had to go really.

Did I say anything at odds to this?

Meh, I'm just looking for a row; now that O'Connor is gone, what are we all going to snipe at each other about if not long-departed mid-range props with a taste for barbecued domestic animals?

Ah yeah, I still miss him though. The big smiley head on him and the kids following him around like a row of happy ducks. You couldn't but love the guy.

He was featured on that World Rugby programme on Sky as he captained the Cook Islands in the RWC qualifiers all the way to the playoff against Fiji (where they got hammered 108-6). Still enjoying his rugby.

Brendan Macken has signed for Wasps. Fair play to him, he'll have a tough time getting ahead of Daly and Leiua but at least he has a deal sorted.

Looks like he'll be a World Cup joker first and foremost.

Whats going on with Adam Byrne? It seems a life time ago he got his first appearance under Joe. Naturally well built boy who seemed to struggle with injury's and form.

He's only in his first year of academy. Had a really good u20s campaign in his last year but there is too many ahead of him in blue. He'll get game time eventually as he's built for modern rugby, just needs to be patient. He's been playing well at AIL

Looks like he's gonna play 7s over the summer too.
