Only 100 tickets left for the Ultra Terrace. I wonder if this season's tough European group will have a positive impact on sales.

IMO they'll sell the rest out when Kidney is announced.

Here lads, I've a dead horse here, not sure if my flogging technique is correct and ye seem to know a thing or two. Any tips?

On improving your 'flogging a dead horse' technique there are various suggestions below, but awec seems well up on them already:

    1 Use a stronger whip.

2 Harness several dead horses together in attempt to increase speed.

3 Do nothing: "This is the way we have always ridden dead horses."

4 Re-classify the horse as living impaired.

5 Appoint a committee to assess just how dead the horse is.

6 Appoint the horse to a supervisory position.

Truthfully having that many terrace tickets still available is a bad sign. Could be a bad year for season ticket sales

They've already hit over 10k, and that was a few months ago afaik.

There have always been terrace tickets available up until August AFAIK. Even a few years ago when we were at our peak. We saw a dip last season so the renewals were always going to be lower as a result, meaning a lower base from the previous year. As ak pointed out we passed the 10k mark a few months back. I think we're probably doing ok in terms of sales. A campaign around the time of the RWC warm-ups should shift some more then too.

Yes but remember there are plenty of people who will want to see Ulster. We draw a crowd.

Interesting wording regarding Tadhg Beirne's contract. Only a short term deal whereas Thornbury is specifically a full season deal. Gone once the World Cup is over unless he does something to seriously impress the management?

Is the ulster match the only pre season friendly?

No. There's an as-yet unannounced home friendly too, probably the following weekend. Free tickets to it were an incentive for early ST renewals

Curious that every final year academy player moves to some form of senior contract (and all but one at Leinster).

Also interesting to see Dempsey is still the manager of the academy. Appears the plan certainly isn't for him to move into a full time role with the senior panel for next season.

Gary Ringrose won't make it to third year academy........

He'll be on a full pro contract by the end of this season !

If you look at the squad page Leinster's squad is very thin considering the number of internationals they currently lose to Ireland. It's no surprise that there are lots of promotions from within this season.

Fans holding off til they know who's on the new coaching ticket. They'll fill the ground with STs once Kidney is announced.

awec am I doin it right?

Yeah would expect himself and Kelleher to be bumped up as they will have plenty of offers elsewhere if not
Not a very exciting incoming academy class Josh Murphy has a shot and maybe Loughman but cant see the others being of sufficent quality to make it. Most of them have gone backwards last year including Loughman

Wouldn't rule out a promotion for Dempsey yet, but announcing him as senior backs coach (or whatever) would be basically admitting now that there will be no new head coach coming in and I don't think we're at that point yet.

Re: academy promotions, I think the players involved were always going to make the leap; the only question marks (IMO) were Thornbury and Beirne, but recent events have made second-row a bit more of an issue for us...

It also means the Cathal Marsh to Connacht "rumour" was, as I predicted, utter horsesh1t.
