I watched this tonight and it's a bit mad as I was at this game but have no memory of any of the match. I do remember the chequered red and blue sections in the crowd but zero of anything that happened on the pitch!!

I remember Dr Phil getting injured and thinking 'oh no, that's it'.....and on came Sexton in his place........;)

Interesting. Hayden Triggs is being touted as a second row signing for us in the Info this morning

I didn't know who he was, googled him, I'm very unenthusiastic about the prospect. Hopefully it's as reliable as the usual Indo fare.

fairly average player, though one of only a handful of blues players that could claim to have had a decent season.

not quite sure a player of his status would improve us any, especially if he restricts someone like thornbury getting game time

McLaughlin retiring means Leinster are short on lock cover. Leinster have 6 locks in the senior squad but two of them (Beirne and Thornbury) are just out of the academy. Plus Toner will be gone in the international periods and Mike McCarthy turns 34 in November so he maybe has one or two years left.

I agree, I'd just question whether signing a Kiwi journeyman who turns 34 himself in February is the answer...

Would he really be any better than what you already have?

If he signs it's not going to be to improve the squad. It's just to get another lineout jumper in.

Id imagine the plan would be to bring him in for 3 months and he can return to Super Rugby for pre-season when we have everyone back. Just like we did with Galarza.

    Is Mick Kearney back fit?

Yeah, he'd really just be filling in until Henderson arrives

which would be fair enough for injury cover.
id have him firmly as lock no 6 though, with MMC and Denton (Kearney when fit) starting ahead with one of the acadamy boys on the bench.

Yeah I saw they had gone upto 50 euro and felt they were just too expensive. So I got rid of my kid.

More cost effective in the long run really.

Was McLaughlin every really lock cover. I think the last time they played or tried him at there was during the Pro12 games during RWC11, even then I thought it was only once or twice.

With him leaving though our back row is very inexperienced

Heaslip, Conan, SOB, Ruddock, Ryan, Murphy, Leavy, V der Flier and there's a good chance 4 of those guys could be involved with Ireland. At least 3 anyway.

Of course he wasn't lock cover. He may have been a decent jumper but he didn't have the power for scrums. Whenever he filled in there, the scrum creaked badly.
An experiment tried once or twice a few years ago and subsequently ditched

I don't think we need lock cover but we do need experienced lineout specialists.

1 injury could very quickly leave us with few options though, as things stand.

We had two injuries going into the last game and did alright.

We've got McCarthy/Denton/Kearney/Moloney/Beirne/Thornbury on the books. Think we're OK there, especially if we get to continue to integrate the young lads.

In the short term though Kearney is out (not sure till when?) Take McCarthy out and you have Denton/Moloney/Beirne & Thornbury, though the young lads look very good, there's not a lot of experience in that mix at senior level.

Not sure if it's been announced and Its as much a guess as anything but suspect Hagan may stay on for the year.

I'm a bit of a McCarthy fan - he was excellent in the last match. God forbid that anything would happen to him in the coming weeks.

I see that Leinster-Toulon tickets for the home game go on sale at 10am today.

Any mention of the usual "Hour of Power" reduced price tickets?

Edit: Literally just got an email saying there will be some €10 tickets
