Reports that Te'o will be earning £366,000 at Worcester.

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,762 ✭✭✭✭molloyjh

Has not been shown up defensively.

Has looked more dangerous in attack than all our backs besides Fitzgerald and Te'o.

Should at least be in the 23, imo should be starting some more games

He's looked dangerous against weakened teams though let's not forget. And he's hardly played 13 at all which is far more demanding than the wing. He's looking good, but let's ease off on the hype for now.

Teo is a loss for Leinster, there's no doubt about it. But I suppose with Payne, Henshaw, McCloskey, Cave, Olding, Arnold, Ringrose, Bundee, Marshall, and even Luke and Earls, the national team is stocked in midfield and the IRFU might think that the 500k or so it would have taken to keep Teo can go elsewhere.

Ah yeah, I like Te'o but wouldn't have wanted him playing for Ireland tbh. Centre isn't an area we're lacking in at the moment (although it was 1-2 years ago) so there's no need for a project player to fill a gap there.

I'd say that helped inform Te'o's decision. He said he wanted to play international rugby and could probably see the writing on the wall wrt Ireland. England on the other hand...

I wouldn't disparage England's centres tbf. They have some very good ones coming through. Joseph is the obvious one, but there's Elliot Daly and Henry Slade too. Nailing down a starting spot for England in the centres would be just as hard as it would be for Ireland. Although they're all 13's I suppose. No good 12's coming through right now. Te'o could play there if he were to make the squad, or one of them could move to accommodate Te'o at 13.

Two words for you: Sam Burgess ;)

If that's the kind of player England are looking for, Te'o ticks all the boxes and a few more that Burgess wasn't waiting around for.

You also forgot to mention Manu Tuilagi, who although having some discipline issues may well be back in the running now that there's a new coaching ticket. But Te'o is now a proven centre and would have a good shout at the spot.

Teo isn't as good as burrell, Joseph or Tualagi anyway.

That's a stronger team than I was expecting. But why is Denton ahead of Molony!?

Up into 3rd with a game in hand and still not hitting top form. I'll gladly take that. And no shortage of younger guys stepping up. We have been getting better and better each week. Europe was always going to be a step too far this season. Very happy with how we're going in the league.

    he's right -

good display overall - we won it really playing without a 10 - Madigan must be moved to centre PERMANENTLY - he has loads of talent , but needs to specialise , and he is NOT a world class 10 . McFadden complete loss of form is worrying , way down the pecking order , and I was a big fan.

Makes the decision to not start him at centre against Wasps all the more puzzling. Although I suppose Cullen can be excused as it was still very, very early days into his coaching tenure. I'd like to see Ringrose get a go against Bath next. He needs the experience against good opposition if he's to take on a bigger role next season after Te'o leaves.

The last remaining European games should be used to give the likes of Ringrose and VDF serious game time against serious opposition. Whatever about Ireland Leinster will need him at 13 next season. Te'o has been one of Leinster's best players this season so I don't know that you can drop him but the European games are a great chance now to give the other guys a real go.

If I'm Nucifora/IRFU then I don't see the benefit to Ireland of moving Henshaw to Leinster when you have Ringrose who IMO is good enough to be a starter for Leinster. Attempt to retain Henshaw at Connacht.

What if you're Robbie Henshaw, do you get a say?

And play him at 15. With McCloskey/Ringrose in the centre you've got the next 8-10 years of Irish rugby wrapped up.

(That said Henshaw plays 12 for Ireland so could do the same for Leinster)

when thomond2006 said "attempt" im guessing he means try and persuade Henshaw to stay put

    No?

Since when do players dictate to their employer? If the best thing for Ireland is for Henshaw to stay in Connacht then the IRFU shouldn't even entertain the notion of moving him, no matter how nicely he asks.

Nucifora in that IRFU video essentially said it's Henshaw's call. So my point is if I'm Nucifora I would want Henshaw to remain at Connacht which gives Ringrose the best opportunity to nail down the 13 jersey with Leinster. Give him a long term deal with maybe a out clause after 2 years if Connacht don't qualify for Europe.

Watching Toulouse spank Toulon, big hits, suffocating defense.....we should have gotten at least one win against them, they are a limited outfit, big and nothing else. Although saying that, the refereeing is hilarious, I think Toulouse must have given away six or seven penalties in a row in their own 22 without a card.

    Are you serious?

They do all the time. Can you imagine if employers were allowed to block you from moving jobs? Madness.

Your employer can block you from moving jobs within the same company all they want.

You think you can walk into your bosses office and demand you be moved to working for HR tomorrow?

And if that drives him out of Ireland?

You simply have to work with players in that regard. Same with every employer/employee relationship.

That's not a relevant example as you wouldn't be qualified for the move. However people regularly move within large organisations without consent of their immediate reporting line to jobs they are qualified for. All the time, it's extremely common.

Yeah but they cant force you to stay at the job you currently have if you dont want to be there, and Im guessing Henshaw will have some very appealing offers from other companies
