Seen on the 42 that mitigating factors were previously clean disciplinary record and admission of guilt. Fair enough, can accept them.

But good conduct during the hearing is also mentioned. How on earth is that any reason for a reduction

Can only assume it means he didn't try to make excuses and just held his hands up at the hearing and admitted to it.

Very strong team for Glasgow. Glad we're going full on for the league title.

Why are we bothering with Teo?

Because we still need him? We'll be missing players during the 6N, so dropping one of the guys who'll actually be around at that time would seem to be a bit foolish. Putting aside the fact that he's a very useful player.

    Ospreys maybe???

Didn't think Reid was due back for a while. Strongest available team anyway, thought we might have seen a slightly weaker line-up.

    Decent Ospreys team too:

    15 Dan Evans
    14 Jeff Hassler
    13 Jonathan Spratt
    12 Owen Watkin
    11 Hanno Dirksen
    10 Dan Biggar
    9 Brendon Leonard
    1 Paul James (Capt)
    2 Scott Baldwin
    3 Aaron Jarvis
    4 Lloyd Ashley
    5 Rory Thornton
    6 James King
    7 Sam Underhill
    8 Dan Baker

    16 Scott Otten
    17 Nicky Smith
    18 Ma’afu Fia
    19 Alun Wyn Jones
    20 Justin Tipuric
    21 Tom Habberfield
    22 Sam Davies
    23 Eli Walker

    Ringrose??

Probably one of the best lineups we've named for an away Ospreys game. Should be good!

Arhip, Matevesi and Lydiate all injured and Wyn Jones and Tipuric on the bench.
Could be a good time to end the losing run over there..

We've players like Ringrose and Reid who could use the game time. Think he's pretty over rated on here regardless.

  • Registered Users Posts: 17,172 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

Ringrose doesn't need to play every game and Te'o is someone we'll need if we want to win the league this season. Need him to be firing for the 6N period when all the internationals are away.

He's our best back currently maybe bar Fitzgerald, and we didn't sign him to develop him, we signed him to win us silverware.

If anything I hope we get our money's worth for the rest of the season, I hope he plays as much as possible.

We can let Reid/Ringrose play in Europe.

Ringrose can't play every single week and Reid is adequate at pro12 level but that's about it. Te'o may be leaving but he's still one of our best backs and if we want to win the league we'll use him.

Really happy with that line-up. We need to utilise Ben as he's quality, Ringrose and Fitz can't play every game together and Reid has his limits.

There's some really decent rotation going on with some of these selections which is great to see.

I'm fine with Ringrose not being there because he's getting some really good exposure but it's disappointing to see Ross Moloney left out again for Denton. I think Denton offers so little, I can't believe he's Leinster's third choice lock.

    either Leo has:

    1. a much better handle on squad rotation due to less injuries
    2. decided to rest our internationals for the rest of the ERC
    3. been under 'less pressure' from the IRFU at resting players

... but we seem to have had a lot more senior players available for selection over the last few weeks compared with what MOC had at his disposal.

    probably 1. above i think.

Jack McGrath is playing a lot of rugby lately. That's a strong team though, should be an interesting game.

We had a pretty horrific injury list last season, so I'd guess it's 1

So has every other province, so I reckon it's more likely #3. I am pretty sure Ulster, Munster and Connacht all fielded a first choice side for both Christmas interpros, something that hasn't happened in ages.

I guess the lack of AIs meant the IRFU weren't bothered about players needing the time off.

Well Connacht had a horrific injury list that only cleared up over Christmas, so it was the first time in a while they were able to field a full team.

Doesn't the national team usually have a camp over Christmas that players are required for? They only had a 24 hour one this year, maybe the lack of a training camp allowed the provinces to pick those players...

yes, definite last year there was at least weeks training camp which meant the 4 interpro games were shorn of the internationals.
