medical Secretary course

Hi All After years of working in retail and been bored solid I have been considering doing a medical Secretary course. I came across a course in Galway GCC which is a year long, it does look interesting but I wonder is a year needed in doing a Secretarial course would I be better off doing a one thats shorter say 10weeks?
