Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I think he has a good chance at Roubaix if his form is good and his head is in the right place, I am not sure about either though tbh.

He's pure class on a bike when his head is right. The problem is his head goes way too easily.

It was nuts, there was never space to get though there. I wonder will the police be having words as a result.

I wonder if that's true about Brammier targeting the intermediate sprint in order to win 34 liters of beer!

Looks all very sedate racing so far. You'd imagine Sky would want it to be a bit harder to try ditch the Kristoff, Sagan, Degenkolb types.

Plenty of time. It will start to get ever quicker from now on after that last attack by TS.

Impressive in terms of character how much of a team man a top sprinter like Greipel is prepared to be in races like this & Paris Roubaix.

I like Kirby, but he can be an awful bollox sometimes, he never stopped yapping about the Sky bike for the first 3 hours of coverage!

I don't think Sep VanMarcke is in that lead group?

Edit: Cameras are on him now. He's trying to get back into the group.

I think the thing with him is you just agree to put up with the bad in order to enjoy the cycling. Used to hate him but once I relaxed about his foibles, found I could get along fine. Think being with Kelly puts the brakes on his excesses a bit too.

Looks like Terpstra and Kristoff might have this, whats left of the bunch appear happy to look at each other and féck around. Thomas looks cooked.

Wheres the 4 million euro man?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,458 ✭✭✭✭dastardly00

I don't think Terpstra and Kristoff are going to be caught.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,630 ✭✭✭pelevin

Kristoff proves he's by a distance the best man in the world at the moment in these races. Wins in a 2 man breakaway, would probably have won a large sprint if it had gone that way.

  • Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators Posts: 21,593 Mod ✭✭✭✭Brian?

Apparently I'm a genius! I had a fiver on Kristoff at 8/1, thought I backed Terpstra!

Sagan sat in all day and didn't do a tap. Even with 20km to go he didn't do a tap to chase down the break. Then he attacks . Delighted he didn't make it across.

Also a note on Wiggins. This guy is apparently 12kg heavier than when he won the tour. Did a few turns at the front but then tailed of the back. Massive ego. Yet another strange chapter in this fella career.

Practically all the big favourites "sat in all day not doing a tap" - though I'd say for most people getting over those climbs & cobbles would be one of the more difficult ways of spending a day not doing a tap. Pretty impressive effort by him I thought for giving all he had to come fourth. Should he have put in big efforts earlier instead to come in 40th?

Greipel should be awarded his weight in bananas- superb ride by the big man.

FDJ didn't have a good day at the office.

Some quotes from the team manager Marc Madiot (link).
“So first we puncture. We stop 500 meters down the road, go to get out the spare wheel … and we realize we don’t have a wrench. Lotto-Soudal have to lend us a wrench! We change the wheel, finally get back into the race, then Chavanel calls with a puncture. I pull over by Chavanel, then, pang! Shimano whack us up the backside & push the car 15, 20 meters,” he said.

“But, anyway, we pull off the back bumper, get back in the race again. I’m thinking, ‘Okay, we can ride our race now.’ We’ve got five riders at the bottom of the Koppenberg. Then I hear, ‘Démare, bike change needed.’ And then we’re f*cked. Up the arse! Ladagnous crashes, Delage is caught up with him, Démare’s gone, and we’re finished.”

    :pac: :pac: :pac:
