Trinity, st james gate, Stephens green, Phoenix park, Dublin castle, Christchurch, Croker & the Liffey come to mind.

Glasnevin cemetery but guess that is stretching "city"!

Lets not forget the Custom House and The Four Courts.

The Railway terminals could be described as landmarks, even the two that are closed

IF you google image "dublin", half the photos are the ha'penny bridge. Seems to be the biggest landmark of dublin. While not exactly the eiffel tower, but have to admit that it's a cool bridge

Would have thought the Spire was an obvious one.

I figured that was covered with O'Connell St. Definitely the most frequently visited one for sure.

The entrance to the Phoenix Park at Park Gate Street as well as a bunch of monuments inside are worth photographing. I wouldn't expect to see them in the top five most recognisable sights of Dublin but most people would know what they are when they see them I think.

Agree with everything that's been mentioned thus far. If I had to choose one thing it would be the Liffey itself. It's arguably what many people (rightly, I think) see as the city's most distinguishing feature.

Tied for second place would be the Four Courts and the Custom House (on grounds of magnificent architecture and location facing the river) and the G.P.O. (on historical grounds). Oh, and St Stephen's Green, just because I really like it.

    Cheers,

    Ac

Ha'penny Bridge and the 'Why go Bald?' sign.

This is a bit random, granted, but I was thinking something similar for a football flag I got made up and wanted a couple of landmarks on it. I got the Spire, the Wellington Monument from the Phoenix Park and Liberty Hall put on it.

The Pigeon House chimney stacks and Ha'penny Bridge are obvious inclusions in any landmark discussion. Convention Centre and the Samuel Beckett Bridge could be nominees if you wanted to put a modern twist on things.

This is a shameless bump but it might be relevant to a posters here. I'm running a tournament in the Games Forum and it's all about finding the best landmarks in the country. Each of the 32 counties will have a representative but the Dublin one is gonna be a stiff contest to qualifier for. Some great shout on here already.

When are they ever gonna finish the works going on at the dome of the four courts? I can't ever remember a time that there wasn't scaffolding there. Disaster.

My guess is that because of the attack on the cupola a century ago, when the restorers had a look, they saw that the scaffolding shouldn’t be taken down until a solution was found that would keep it standing as long as the forum. Quite right too.

I heard from someone who worked on the survey side of the project that the copper dome is too heavy for the supporting pillars, which are bowing as a result. He reckoned there was no immediate solution and advised not walking too close to it.
