Just heard the last minutes of this. God he is arrogant. I wrecked my hand punching the radio, have to try and remember to remain calm.

His recent interview in the Irish Independent (http://www.irishtimes.com/sport/other-sports/pat-mcquaid-interview-i-m-part-of-cycling-s-solution-1.2163242) was pathetic. TBH, I think for his own sake he needs to stay quiet for a few years, because every time he opens his mouth its a train-wreck, he seems unable to be in anyway contrite or humble or just accept things for what they are. Among the gems he manages to lay claim to 'during his tenure as President' (which commenced in 2005) was the throwing out of Pantani from the Giro...............eh? That was in 1999. Go figure.

Even though he was on various relevant UCI committees in 1999, to be now claiming that amongst his achievements in cycling is pathetic.

Now that really is quite the gem given how previously he was very quick to point out that he wasn't president during the Armstrong era, ergo it wasn't his responsibility.

Are you allowed write 'pure and utter gob****e ' on Boards?

He should join up with Brian Cowen and Bertie and go on a guest speaking tour claiming no responsibility for the carnage that happened under their leadership.

Just like a thick necked politician he actually believes he did a good job. Never mind that Russian business interests can dictate what happens now in World cycling. If the UCI bank balance was healthy at the end of his reign maybe that's all that matters to some.

He's in good company. FIFA are famously and almost openly corrupt at this stage. When Sepp Blatter retires he will expect accolades and a big send off. He believes he's doing a great job. Maybe us mere mortals will never realise the Trojan work the McQuaids of the world do.😉
