Jose is heaping praise on Remy, I'd expect him to start as long as Costa is out. How long Costa is out for is the question. He's only mentioned 2 weeks so far ("For sure a couple of weeks minimum. Let's see what happens.") which could see him back in the middle of the DGW. I suspect he'll be longer and if so Remy is a great option I think.

Brought Costa in this week, not sure who to transfer him out for. Kane and Aguero are my other two strikers so these are the ones on my watchlist:

    Remy
Pro: Upcoming DGW in GW34; potentially good differential; 2 goals in last 2 games; would allow a defensive upgrade to Ivan for the DGW
Con: Don't trust him to start every game

    Rooney
Pro: Good form; playing up front again; United have recovered their form
    Con: Tough upcoming fixtures

    Giroud
Pro: Incredible form; Arsenal playing great football
    Con: Blank in GW33

    Austin
Pro: Potentially a return to good form with his performance vs. WBA
Con: A blank in GW33 and generally tough fixtures for the rest of the season

Weighing those up, I'm strongly considering Remy. Another option is to go for a cheap replacement, switch to 3-5-2 and go for another heavyweight midfielder.

Austin done the business but fixtures and a blank GW, means he's on chopping block
Would you not consider Gomis? Is high on my list for 2 gw punt
Then either revert to Costa of Giroud for the run in

Remy and then probably Giroud for the run in.

He does seem like a potentially good two week punt, but I just don't trust Swansea enough to maintain decent form (or indeed Gomis, who had a pretty poor return prior to the last two games). But that's also to do with my circumstances - even though I've had a poor run and a slide down the global rankings I've maintained leadership in my main private league, so from here on out I'm looking for the safe options.

Issue is with costa injured and sturidge still short match time and potential blank gw 34 not lot great options for third spot (aguero and kane a given).. so either giroud for few weeks with no gw 33 and upcoming double. Or for me gomis then have option of costa/ giroud for gw 34 onwards

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,685 ✭✭✭sheroman01

Currently thinking of Sterling and Remy (maybe Giroud) in for Eriksen and Austin.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 190 ✭✭Paddy_Irishman

The Costa injury leaves a tough call for most teams! With him out for at least 2 matches it leaves punt options or one match solution.

I think giroud is the safe transfer on team n individual form but the blank in 33 means u'd have to bench or transfer again! I'm gonna try remy n I was wildcarding for dgw anyway, can fix it then!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,274 ✭✭✭✭FHFC

It all depends on the extent of the Costa injury and we have only sketchy info so far. If Costa likely to be out for 3 weeks or more Remy is a no brainer for me.

After licking my wounds for the last 48 hours, I started thinking about this as well. I also came up with Gomis (as mentioned above), Sturridge (highly dependent on Wednesday and whenever the hypothetical DGW is), and Vardy (:o). The Arsenal supporter in me just wants to get Giroud in and hopefully leave him there for the rest of the season. The sensible option is probably Remy although I don't trust he's nailed. The fcuk it all punty part of me wants to go Vardy. In spite of his low shots per game (1.2), he's been scoring decently in FPL and has played the full 90 mins the last three matches. He also looked quite good on those MOTDs (I'll admit I haven't watched a Leicester match since Arsenal played them). However Pearson rotates constantly so I don't trust his nailedness and Leicester are shite.

add Murray to that list if he looks decent tonight......
and possibly bony after next week
can forget about bony now too risky

Just noticed Cork and Naughton are injured, needed both for 33, **** just gets worse.

I have already replaced Costa so need to replace at least one of these.

Cork has a dead leg so should be fine. Naughton still hasn't been assessed. Don't panic...yet!

kun will resurrect vs united, he's a big game player and united won't keep a clean sheet.

Aguero has to go. :( Maybe for Benteke? I have Kane and Giroud already.

Benteke has spurs away then a blank in 33
Aguero has the best fixture in 33 he will be my captain not that it makes much difference at this stage
I'm still contemplating going -12 -16 next few weeks to get players in each week with best fixtures
I'm on 45 this week with benteke captain left
If I'd taken hits to get Austin Philips in of be much better off after hits
It would also have been a lot more fun
This year has not been fun
Dunno if ill play next year.
So much time so little reward
Forward planning costing me points week after week
May see how a "casual" "points chasing" approach goes for last few weeks!
Going to Manchester derby with aguero and Silva but just mata in my team is also not much fun !

Have to make my transfers and set up my team tonight.

Gone for Costa -> Pelle

In Graziano we trust. What's the worst that could happen :pac:

    Myhill
    Dawson - Alderweireld - Coleman - PVA
    Hazard - Silva - Sanchez
    Aguero - Pelle - Kane (c)

    Phillips - Naughton - Ameobi

I'm keeping Benteke for Spurs away...Tim will be well up for it and would expect that to channel to the players. Plus the fact that Spurs seem to consistently concede to teams in the bottom half of the table at WHL. Wouldn't be surprised to see Villa nick a goal or two.

Murray has scored every 91 minutes before City game...

    Still not tempted, though.

Has some very tasty fixtures ahead though, and would be a serious differential.

I'm going to bank. 2 FT will come in handy for the double GW.

    BUIB hasn't scored since December 20th (GW 17). That's some drought.

His luck is bound to change soon surely.

Just noticed Kun has only scored 3 since December 3rd. BUIB is well worth a dart!

not making any transfers myself this week i think and scarily considering a 5-4-1...

    Myhill
    Dawson - Bellerin - PVA - Rose - Bertrand
    Hazard - Ozil - Silva - Eriksen
    Kane(c)

    Bench
    Aguero + Austin

I've 2 FT and don't want to waste one

Thinking I'll keep Couthino for another week
I'll keep Benteke for another week
I'll keep Bellerin on the off chance that Wenger doesn't want to upset the balance at this stage of the season
    I'll keep Aguero
I'll keep Mane for the Hull game

So looking like Hutton to somebody

This weeks transfer is going to take a lot of thinking about.
Seriously tempted to get Rooney in (for Aguero) for this week. And then no transfer next week.
The weej after tgat get Remy and Sanchez in for the run in.
But don't like planning so many transfers so far ahead. Events have a habit of ruining plans. And need to wait for a definite diagnosis on Costa.

    Considering using my WC.

I've a single FT though in case I can make a better WC team next week instead.

    Panti (Guzan)
    PvA Wilson Schlupp Bellerín (Jones)
    Hazard Sanchez Silva Eriksen (Cork)
    Kane Austin (Costa)

Costa out is clearly the single move if I'm to use only the FT. But to who? Giroud away to Burnley? Sturridge home to Newcastle? Pelle home to Hull? Remy @ QPR?

One week 'punt' and then WC? Or WC?

no player has scored more goals against city in the derby then Rooney.
I've now decided to bring him in and possibly even captain him
but I'm just really pissed off and don't really care anymore and I'm going to the game :D

Hey lads, don't post here much but I'm third in my private league and 50 points off first so a few good weeks could get me into first. It's all to play for. Any advice would be appreciated.

2 FT with 5.1 (highest all season) in the bank.

    Ospina (Pantilimon)
    Terry-Moreno-Bellerin-(Hutton)-(Haidara)
    Henderson-Hazard-Ozil-Blind-(Mane)
    Kane-Austin-Aguero

giving SERIOUS consideration to selling him for Rooney this week and buying back next week
if I sell him tonight I'll get 12.5 for him
he will be 12.5 tomorrow...... and god knows what if he blanks again this weekend

if liverpool win the replay you will be missing a lot of players in gw 33. I'd look at hutton and Haidara to ivan and schlupp. Upgrade blind the following week maybe to puncheon.

who to bring in for costa??

    current team

    Krul - Pantillimon

Terry - Wollscheid - Naughton - Van Aanholt - Alderweireld

    Sanchez - Henderson - Boyd - Silva - Hazard

    Costa - Aguero - Kane

There's no one really jumping out at me and if I thought costa would be back for the DGW i'd just bench him and play boyd or one of my defenders.
I also need to transfer out naughton so could do that transfer this week (only 1 ft and .7 to spare)

Sturridge has nice fixtures but they have a possible blank next week and he's kind of being eased back in anyway.
Giroud and Austin have a blank GW 33.
Rooney is appealing most to me but has 2 very tough fixtures.
Remy also appealing but not if Costa will be back for DGW and I also think Jose might favour Drogba versus united.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,083 ✭✭✭Chesty08

Went for Costa to Vardy this GW. Leicester seem to be playing and scoring well, have West Brom up next (who conceded 4 goals each of last 2 matches), then a home fixture and two games the following GW

With the extra cash I'll look to get in two Chelsea players - defender and midfielder (Fabregas) for the DGW

All my plans of late have backfired, so you can be sure as hell Vardy won't start or will get injured the weekend!
