Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Scenic parking brake error removal.

    Hi all.
I was driving TO the NCT last week when the electronic parking brake error message came up on the dash informing me that the brake no longer worked..... Yeah.... That's right..... On my way to the damn place! ... (2004 Renault Scenic). Of course it was failed for that alone but everything else is fine.
Next day the parking brake is working as always but the red P error message remains on the dash and at the retest they said that the brake is fine but they cannot pass a car with such a fail error.
From reading about I can see it's a common problem and all it needs is for the system to be reset or the error to be removed by someone with the proper diagnostic tools.
Tried removing and reconnecting the battery and no luck. Found a few other methods to try reset the system but none have worked. I :-(
Anyone know of anyone in either Galway, Dublin or Wexford that can remove this bloody message?

    Cheers

    HB

    Hi!
Could you please tell me where you got this sorted? I've got the same problem now and can't find anyone in Dublin.
    Thank you!

Anybody at all with reasonable diagnostics will be able to turn off the light, the problem is usually the motor though so it will return, very very common issue on these sadly

    Thanks for the reply, Rex.
Mine is working but sometimes it makes a screeching loud noise.
Not sure if I should replace the motors or pay someone to wipe the message from the dashboard. My NCT is due on january so either I sort this out or won't pass nct.
I've heard ir I get the car to an official renault dealer it'd cost 800 quid.
That's half of the price of my 04 scenic!

Had same issue years ago with my scenic 04
Common issue and happened to me after rainy days
Cheap fix is visit a garage with ecu reader just before nct to remove message
If on the meanwhile gets stuck use the manual handbrake cable release located on the boot
Ideal get a compatible and refurbished unit
