Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Probably one of the most underwhelming build ups to a Tyne-Wear derby in some time given the state of both teams at the moment.

I think it certainly means more to Sunderland at the moment. Fighting for survival while Newcastle only have pride to fight for after yet throwing in the towel mid January once again.

Sunderland's record has been very good in this fixture. Looking to win 5 consecutive derbies in a row.

Newcastle are without a ton of players so god only knows what way we'll line up. Colback played LB against Arsenal last time out but he needs to play in the centre with Clattermole there.

They say form goes out the window but Newcastle's form has been a non entity so this could get really ugly pretty quickly.

I have no confidence mainly because I just don't really care anymore.

    Let the crap fest begin.

    HOWAY THE... Ah fúck off.

Sunderland/Newcastle will win this one, two terrible teams but one looks more likely to score.

I hope you are wrong, cause I backed a 0-0 draw!

    Pathetic really.

Never thought I'd say it ahead of a derby, but I'm really not all that bothered.

Regardless of the result, we are still going to be in relegation trouble. If we scrape survival this year we will just be fighting to stay up again next season. I know some supporters would kill to be in our position but it's all relative and eventually the realisation that the club will never do anything of note catches up with you. Both of these sides get support far more than what they deserve.

A scrappy 0-0 or 1-1 but for the first time perhaps ever, the result won't make or break my day.

Just finished watching Tottenham and Burnley which was terrible.

But I think this could be even worse. Depressing time to be a Newcastle fan really

Yep. That seems to be the way. I'm trying to get myself into it but the build up is just not there. Watching for the sake of watching like with all Newcastle games.

    Very attacking from Sunderland.

    Fletcher, Defoe and Wickham starting

As sad and all as it is, there were often times in the past where I would struggle to sleep the night before these games. This time, it barely crossed my mind. Quite an achievement for both clubs to simultaneously suck the life out of some of their fans!

Ah yeah, there's Janmaat limping in the warm up. Fan-fúcking tastic.

Anyone running a book on what 15 minute segment Cattermole will get booked in? I'll go for somewhere between minute 16 and minute 30.

And that 3 ad they run immediately before every game. It's not "three, two, wun"; it's "one", FFS.

Sunderland could play for a week here and still not manage to score. Dominating but creating nothing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,342 ✭✭✭✭That_Guy

Pure class from both sets of fans.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,342 ✭✭✭✭That_Guy

Have the ball in their half, pass back to Krul, nearly ends up in a goal. Christ

Despite a decent start, Defoe has been such an underwhelming signing.

If Sunderland can come up with some quality in the final third they will win this game with some to spare. They have the desire hunger workrate and energy that normally wins this derby .

That has been our problem all season. The simple fact is that we don't have any.
