Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Palace v City

Theres too much going on , too fast for a linesman to make these calls on his own anymore. He has to watch the ball to know when the touch happens as well as any number of players 10 or 15 yards away looking for bits of bodies ahead of each other. You're just not going to get accurate calls all the time if its anyway close. It's educated guessing at best.

    It wasn't that tight though.

Offside calls that result in goals should certainly be in scope for the video ref whenever it comes in imo

This is when the argument of technology etc will come back, this could be a costly blow for City if they lose.

Why didn't they just do the line from Demichaels head rather than his foot ? :/

Demichelis was leaning over the line. Maybe it was off maybe it wasn't. It's impossible to call and the rule also says when in doubt go with the goal.
    So was Dann. They're both leaning forward. But Dann is marginally ahead of DeMichelis;

    Offside for me.

Exactly. Surely if it's about body parts you can score with it surely is also about body parts you can keep the ball out with.

Anyway this is impossible to call even with video slomo. Therefore it's a goal.

Hart showed far too much of that side of the goal to Puncheon.

He could lead Palace to the title next season and they would still claim he's the anti-Christ.

Deluded is the correct adjective to use I think.....

    City to win 3 or 4 - 2

Ah well; that makes the offside goal irrelevant now.

    :(

    26% Ball Possession 74%
    4 Goal Attempts 10
    3 Shots on Goal 2

which illustrates City's current malaise - much possession but like a kitten in front of goal.

    Yaya has been very poor.

    Offside for me.

If there is a doubt, the benefit goes with the attacking team. There is a massive doubt there with fecking bells on it.

There is four players directly across the line where the linesman is looking. He doesn't have x-ray vision. Can you really see a boot is a few inches offside, from 40 or 50 yards across the way with 4 players in the way? It's barely clear with a freeze frame with a line drawn across it.

Hope Yaya's 2 arent in those stats. They were closer to clearances than shots.

Told you that two or three weeks back. I said we were looking backwards at the chasing pack, not upwards at you lot. Now they're all above us!

And yeah. I'm so deluded pal. Christ.

Pardew's done well... so far. Give him a full season and we'll see what's what. He might well prove me wrong but I'm glad we got rid. He was proven to be tactically inept with Newcastle time and time again.

He can't seem to do any wrong with Palace right now but I'm happy we've gotten rid. Time will tell. We've been on a slide with and without Pardew.

You lot are hilarious, I said in the Newcastle thread you'd regret losing him as things stand. Your form has been on a downward slide since he left.

    Super Frank Lampard coming on.

No point giving him the heave ho now. Season's finished. Let him see it out and then give him his P45.

Our downward slide was a result of Pardew and not just because he left. But hey, ignore what you want pal. Won't be long until we're back to playing swashbuckling football and gunning for cups again.
