I am in semester 2 of my 1st year in college, it is a Level 8 course with a duration of 4 years. However I do not like what I am doing and I would like to change over to a course that covers the same elements in Years 1 and 2 as the course I am doing now does - however the course I would like to transfer to is a level 6. Would I lose my Grant Payment if I were to do so? Or would it be ok?

The course I am currently doing is Accounting & Finance. I really dislike the Accounting part but thankfully you don't really specialise in this subject until Years 3 and 4. I would like to transfer into the Level 6 Business course - I looked into it and the first and 2nd year of this course covers the exact same material as the course I am in currently so I wouldn't need to repeat Year 1, I could go directly into Year 2.

I am just wondering would I lose my grant?

I transferred from one business related course to another and I didn't lose my grant. As long as you progress from year 1 to year 2 there shouldn't be an issue. I would also contact SUSI to verify this. You will also need to speak to your year tutor and admissions to see if they will allow you to transfer.
