Use this thread to keep us up to date on how all Irish players in England are performing.

Counties playing universities in friendlies at the moment. Stirling,Murtagh and Balbirnie all in action for Middlesex.

Murtagh took 3-26 in the first innings, Stirlo took a wicket as well. All 3 failed with the bat though.

Niall also in action, although he made only 7.Took 2 catches though.

Adair (According to cricketeurope) took 2 wickets in a pre season game vs Derby for Warks as well

Niall only made 18 in Leicesters 2nd innings.

Murtagh took 3-41, and Stirling had excellent figures of 10-3-17-2. Sure the opposition is only a university team, but those are still promising figures.

Not aware of anyone else in action today

Niall took 1 catch behind the stumps on the final day, while Stirlo reached 19* as Middlesex won easily. Balbo didnt get to bat

Wilson,Stirling,Murtagh,Joyce,Niall all in action in county games today.

Porterfield just gone for 59 in a friendly vs Durham MCCU.

Sadly Dockrells woes continue at Somerset as he's again overlooked for the first team. Hope he breaks into the starting XI this season, otherwise he really should move on elsewhere.

Thats all the Irish players playing today that I'm aware of, will update later when play closes for today

Dockrell is slightly ****ed tbh in 4 day cricket with Rehman their who was absolute gun for them in his previous spells. The only glimmer for Dockrell is Rehman when I last seen him for Pakistan didn't look great though so he may throw in a few stinkers and George may get a look in.

Myburgh also bowls spin as well and opens so they definitely won't find place for both Dockrell and Rehman.

Several players in action, here's how they did on Day 1

    Joyce hit 42 for Sussex

Leicestershire struggled terribly again, taking only 2 wickets as Glamorgan racked up 294/2. Both wickets were catches by Niall.

    Murtagh returned figures of 21 - 3 - 51 - 0 for Middlesex, Stirling bowled 3 overs for 13 runs.

In the pre season games that took place, Porterfield hit 59 for Warks and Wilson ended on 119* for Surrey.

Looking forward to seeing how Stirling does with the bat tomorrow

Stirlo failed with the bat, only hitting 11 runs.

Rest of the guys didnt get a bat bar Murtagh who chipped in with 19 odd.

Not much action today for the Irish contingent tbh

Stirling picked up 1-66 off 11 overs, Murtagh with 3-69 off 24.

Niall was stranded on 70*, took 2 catches in the final session too.

Bobby Gamble hit a maiden first class 50 for Loughborough vs Kent, he bowled 12 overs for 1 wicket and 26 runs later in the day as well.

Porterfield made 93 vs Durham MCCU as well.

    Decent day overall

The form batsmen at the moment is Stuey Poynter. Last 3 knocks
    Durham 2nds 98
    Durham 2nds 107 not out in 66balls
Ireland A 105 not out today at Lords v MCC

Yup, 89 for Joyce today too.

Also Young is on the verge of a contract. Sussex keen on him, as are Leics

Poor Boyd, Warwickshire declare on 321/8 at tea on day 3 to set Worcestershire 437 so no chance to turn his first FC 50 into a 100 ;)

Himself (56*) and Chris Wright (61*) put on 114 in 29.5 overs for the 9th wicket (really the last wicket I guess as Hain batted at #5 in the first innings so was presumably not able to bat). He even hit as many 6s (3) as everyone else in the match combined (so far) :-D

Someone find a moneybags to go and secure his services for Ireland (money needed to allay any fears he might have about his livelyhood if he returns to playing in green), we can have him back in January if we can keep E&W from giving him a token appearance to restart the clock.

    Congrats Boyd

Bracewell is going to sit down face to face with him and try get him back on board, hope it goes well.

Realistically Boyd is about 6th reserve seamer for England, whereas with us he's first on the teamsheet.

Balbirnie hit 196 for Middlesex second XI's 2 weeks back, has to be near a spell with the first team now surely.

Barry McCarthy also in Durham second XI's and taking wickets, Chase hasnt featured since the Ireland A vs MCC game though.
