    Love them too

Car never had an NCT though. Any way to find out when it was imported? Car could have been sitting up for a very long time. MOT expired 8 years ago, but mileage is consistent with that MOT (and sitting up since). Lots of work done in 2008 at 67k miles when it last failed the MOT

If I were in the market for one, I would certainly go check this out.

It might be sold already - the ad I linked is no longer active.

Love the SD1 as well. That one has geen up on DD a few times though.

This I like, and they seem relatively easy to find up for sale on DD. €3,500

Looks like a nice W124... could only say don't like the colour coded bumpers...

Funny how on some cars that just doesn't work.

MOT expired early last year. Might cost big bucks to get it through the NCT. Or it might not. I wouldn't bother going to see it. The location doesn't help either...

Would work a lot better without the clear indicators IMO.

Is it just me , or is it just a case that they painted the rubber inserts in the bumpers. I can't recall ever seeing that sub-model (88-91?) with the black inserts painted from the factory.

Has an NCT to 03/2020. Great engine and box combo and I like the bare interior, typical of German spec Mercs from that time.

it looks like they painted both bumpers including the black plastic inserts and all the trims on the doors...

you could bring it back to original for probably €200 or so

Yep someone did and they painted the side strips as well. They also put a third brake light in the back window. The alloys are wrong too.

    Interior looks really good though.

Are those alloys off a 93 model car?
Even by 124 standards its fairly sparsely equipped.
No air-con, no dropping rear head rests, only one el. mirror.

Clear corners and repeaters should be the law on w124/w201 Mercs. :)

Meanwhile here is what looks like a complete swizz of an advert in terms of photographs

i like the amber lenses on the earlier w124's.....nice and original.

Yeah I never understood why people spent a lot of money making their car look like a facelift model with things like clear lenses, Lexus lights, etc.

All you really need are a pair of headlamps, and a '95 bonnet...

I would only do it if I needed to replace them after an accident and there was only a newer donor available.

But for me the front of the earlier model looks nicer and sharper.

Yes they are 1993 onwards as was a drivers electric mirror. Dropping rear head rests was an option and as for the air con ....................... well that brought a new meaning to the word 'expensive'!

Love them in silver. Seems a reasonable price if it indeed had an NCT as the seller claims. But according to the NCT site it ran out nearly a year ago. These cars suffer worse than most of that era from rust and they can hide it, so go in eyes open on this one.

    Project 190e 2.5 16

I imagine deep pockets needed for this one..

It looks like a good example but the rust by the sunroof is quite a big deal. If the rust is there it will be starting elsewhere too as the paint on these facelift cars was very poor. Rust here means that the sunroof seal has to come out and at this age it wont go back in properly and they are eyewateringly expensive. I'd also be looking at the rear window for delamination and a failing engine wiring loom

That is a very cheap Cosworth!

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,293 ✭✭✭Garzard

€4,600 for this. Seller has made quite a good effort on the general description but the mechanical condition isn't very specific apart from ''extensive service history''. Looks lovely though!

Yeah spotted that too. Drivers seat looks a bit worn. FWD though. If it was a quattro it would be worth the asking price for sure. These cars haven't really aged well though.

I posted that car months ago - maybe January. It’s for sale a good while anyway. Nice to see it NCTd but I think it’s expensive. Needs to be closer to 3k IMO. Not a huge market for it in Ireland
