Someone in Poland advertising a unique car to a broader market? Not too unusual.

There are a lot of specialist restorers in that part of the world.

Poland needs to liaise with their Cork 'agent'...he's calling it a 1.6 deluxe and they claim it's a 1600 E , where are they going with 'Lotus'?, even though the badge says not , And it looks rubbish on those (wrong) wheels..

Irish ad seems accurate. Didnt read the Polish one.

I suppose of you are in the market to spend 24 grand on a classic ford you would clarify those details.

I suspect someone with 24k to spend on a classic Ford wouldn't have stopped by this ad in the first place..:)

^ Why are 48 watching if its 'buy it now' and 'make offer' never really understood that:confused:

I always thought this was a handsome car, if somewhat temperamental. :) Not a fan of beige, but this does look immaculate:

Would love to find a genuine Irish one.

There was a brown '85 Maestro on Gumtree a few months back, ZY reg 30k miles 1 owner. Was up for ages but is gone now

So they can find it again easily. I do that too.

That one's been for sale for quite a while now, last time I saw it was 4 months ago. Sorely tempted.

^ Loved that era of Mercedes. Would make a great run-around

I think that is the problem, Its 1983, so I bet its been on the tax-dodging-classic-family-car circuit for the last 2 years or so and is now feeling the effects of it. There are a pile of 81-82-83 cars for sale at the moment in a terrible state after 3 years of commuting, when you know they were probably pristine when imported from the UK.

I think its a terrible shame.

I'm not sure I agree it's a shame to use a classic family car as a family car. Better a car get worn out from use rather than sitting in a barn.

I know a few doing the rounds in my area and it's great to see them on the road. Another friend of mine always wanted an old merc and waited till he had his first kid recently to get one almost identical to that one in the ad.

In fact I brought my three kids to the in-laws this morning in my 924! Another classic family wagon. :)

+1 and as for pristine from the UK? Maybe, but with their heavy use of salting the roads over the decades unless it was a very well loved classic chances are good the pristine only goes skin deep. I've seen this on another car model forum I frequent, a model that's 15-20 years old and the English cars undersides are too often red raw with rust if they're anything like a daily driver(and many would be detailed within an inch of their lives and look fantastic on the surface).

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

Unless the car was recently imported, that's simply not true. The car has only had 2 owners in Ireland.

I feel the asking price is on the high side, that might be why it hasn't sold yet. Or maybe you're right and the car is not as good as it looks :D

Who thought at the end of the project like this one that sticking a radio bought in Halfords was a good idea...

ver & a bit of a clean wouldn't go astray & some decent pics.

It always annoys me when the seller doesn't make some bit of an effort to sell the car. Inside looks sh!te with mats all over the place. A hoover & a bit of a clean wouldn't go astray & some decent pics. If you're selling a car, put up a decent ad & try & sell it. I know you can't tell a lot from pics but a clean car with decent pics could get a few extra punters interested.

    Rant over

My uncle has one of those over in Melbourne that's still his daily driver. Over 800,000 kilometres on her!

Very nice. Just needs the rear plate changed to a red one.

What do folks think of the price?

A man is rich in proportion to the number of things which he can afford to let alone.

Old Landcruisers of any description are just notoriously expensive here (think BJ40 etc...) but I can't really comment
