Not as pretty as the estate but not a bad looking car either.

I much prefer the saloon. My primary school teacher had one and replaced it with a gold Renault 9.

This looks sweet for €5k. 2600 automatic, a V8 would be nice but still.

NCT til June 2021, and claims it comes with loads of spares

    Never understood the fascination
    They were always ugly

I bought a car with whitewall tyres about 15 years ago - paid the local tyre place 15 quid to reverse them outside in!

I once failed the NCT for having an inside out tyre. Apparently they're designed to dissipate water behind the car. Do it the other way and it pushes water in front and is a traction hazard.

I think I got charged €15 to change it the right way round, having bought the tyre in the North after an unexpected puncture up there.

I presume he just switched the tyres on each axle. That way they're still rotating the right direction and the whitewall is on the inner face.

That's a bit spicy! And a Tipp reg on an import.

    Also, 323,999 km?

Hmmm, looks like 330,999 km to me.

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

Never had an NCT. Probably rotten. But who knows, could be alright. It's cheap. Pity it's a manual though. And a diesel.

How much are you guys paying for classic insurance? I'm just trying to get an idea of figures in case I do buy that 18.

Wait. How do you know it's a Tipp reg? And why would that make a difference?

The spiciness and the Tippiness aren't correlated. I should have shifted the Tipp comment down a line. It was just an observation. Like, the fact that the odometer is in KM so it's a Jap import most likely.

You can see* "Tiobráid Árann" on the reg in one of the photos.

I'm not a reg racist unless it's CE, KY, DL, RN, SO and MO. :)

    *notionally

more likely Aussie maybe - and its a farm vehicle so a Tipp reg would suit it, easy way to pretend you are of better stock too ! :pac:

Ahh, I never looked that close at the reg plate.

I was wondering was a Tipp reg a curse or something. Some may say it is :)

That's as rough as a bears arse I'd say. Boot looks like a builder was using it.

Thanks for that. I presume you send in the mileage on renewal. I'd say 5000km is plenty.

Not sure. Just took it out for the first time around September so I presume they just ask for the milage on renewal.
It's apolicy limit BTW so the 5K Kms is shared among your collection, if you have more than 1 that is.

yes "e30" and the word "bargain" in general don't go in the same sentence with the last 10 years... i just posted it as you don't see them for sale that much anymore...

I personally never understood why people are fussed about where a vehicle was originally first registered.... surely its specification, current condition, mileage and service history and a clear history check are the important things to consider?

With the greatest of respect, the thread is for classic Irish bargains. There's another thread for foreign bargains.

In fairness, eventhough it's on UK plates, the car for sale in the ad is located in Ireland. Lots uf UK reg cars located here are posted in this thread.

The foreign classic thread is for cars outside Ireland.

As for being a bargain, well that's relative.

I’ve said it loads of times, this thread needs to be renamed “the Donedeal thread” or something like that. It should be for the discussion of anything (classic) for sale on the island IMO

I hate when ads don't show a price.

I hate when ads don't show a price.

And then end the ad with "No timewasters". Give a price and let those still interested call
