That sounds it wouldn't pass the NCT here. MOT doesn't seem to be as strict as our NCT.

Definitely would not pass an NCT. I have had a car fail with a finger nail size
hole under the outer edge of an arch. No amount of arguing solved it.

The mercs MOT has some amount of future welding written all over it. Nothing wrong with that if you are aware.

The MOT characterises rust as either structural (within a set distance of a stress point) or cosmetic. I thought the NCT used more or less the same criteria? They have failed a car on me for rust on a cill that was miles from structural, but it was a hole (that would just get worse) so I was fine with it.

I brought a car in with a fresh MOT, back before you could convert that into an NCT. It had advisories about rust. Put it through the NCT and the car needed 19 hours of welding

NCT is far stricter than MOT

That "U FOUND ME" fella no doubt is very aware of this :D

Do you really think there is *that* much difference between them? That an advisory in the UK is equal to 19 (19!) hours of welding in Ireland? Are you sure you didnt just buy a dodgy motor with a snide MOT - they used to be very easy to come by.

Looking at figures on Cartell for pass rates for 4 year old cars in UK and Ireland, and the numbers are pretty consistent.

When it comes to rust and an NCT, if they see it, they fail it.

I had the wifes cinquecento in for a test once. It passed as usual.

I was convinced it would fail on the exhaust, it didn't.

I then took off the exhaust to discover it was split on the top of the silencer,

the full length of the silencer..

Nct is always a gamble, and full of surprises.

I seem to remember those being a fairly popular car in the late 80s/90s here.
I guess the Volvo badge and image had a certain draw as they were fairly well priced I think

You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

For that Fiat?! It doesn't even have a badge.

I'd say it bends going over ramps. :pac:

Strong money for a car that looks like it was painted on the side of the road. The side pictured looks at least 3 different shades

Nice boat, but looks rough. No interior pictures is not promising. If all the ad claims is true then it's a decent buy at around the €2k mark imho

    190E Auto, 08/21, €2,800

Could do with a clean up, poor photos, 'rust spots' may be ominous, but could be worth a look.

Decent price for a T-model, but it's still 5-6 years out from classic tax. Still an excellent daily driver. LPG helps if you have handy access to it. Nice interior, pics are a bit frustrating.

    E200T Auto 01/21, €3650.

You'll have a hell a job, the carbs/exhaust are the other way round on that engine from the sohc. The Uno turbo engine is a neater fit.

Not impossible, but a lot of fab involved.

    I do love them.

But it has the air of one that was for sale last March 2019 in tipperary that I was tempted to go see.

Still have the link from that one, no bloody pics though to confirm.

Seb needs his arse kicked for the state of the pics in that ad, I would wonder on his intent on actually selling it.
Its rather a nice car and he is a clown or its a wreck and hes afraid it shows in the pics

Arent our year plates really a pain ?
I mean if we had non year specific or private plates, 80% of folks would never know thats an 25 year old car and it would be totally respectable transport.

Because of the plate 50% of drivers see an old banger and the value of it is so low ( coupled with tax obvs )

I suppose its good news to those of us who want good metal cheap !
