Ok I know its not a 500 but I know the seller of this one and it really has been well looked after:

I think that car has been on for an age in a different ad. Anyway, if the ad had 2000 views, 1500 of them were mine !

fantastic yoke - but you'd need to be able to store it for the 8 years ! ( or pay near 16k in road tax )

Looks great I love it, but it would be an incredibly hard sell in Ireland.

Both of those coupes are lovely, and I would imagine they would be a much safer than the later CL in many regards.

    Tale of two MK1 Jettas.

The red one is exceptional, the green one more run of the mill. Which if either is a bargain?

Would you really spend 5 grand on a Jetta diesel? My mother in law had one, same colour, they're dire. And boring. Robust and spartan, sure. If you are a monk wearing a hair shirt it will be your thing :p

All the monks I know drive Corollas :)

Red one is exceptional alright but €5K exceptional? I'd maybe chance it at half that.

The green one you're just buying the log book really......
Out of curiosity, what's the button to the right of the steering wheel on the green one? Glow plug solenoid?

Yeah I'm not surprised. I would class a Corolla in the same category as a Jetta. Perhaps a slightly less rough hair shirt, but a hair shirt all the same :p

I reckon you're right. The brother had a 1988 (I think) Nissan Cabstar that had the glow plug button fitted. Someone tried, and failed, to steal it one night because they couldn't start it, because they didn't know about the button. Proper old skool anti-theft stuff. Wasn't designed to be anti-theft, but worked that way if you didn't know about it.

It wasn't "old skool" (I hate that spelling) anti theft. The button was put there because the owner didn't have the bobs to replace the timer relay/ ignition switch.

Hardly that because it seems to be a petrol

Worth a mention here, I'd buy them, but I already have plenty of them, some very good reading in them. €175 the lot.
Over 200 editions of Classic and Sports Car magazine, spanning the last number of years.

Great magazine that. I've just dumped about 100 car mechanics binders and all, nobody wants magazines anymore.

Oh I know why it was fitted. My father fitted it, but as I said it wasn't designed as an anti theft, it just worked that way when the boyos came to steal it.

Co developed with Saab (the 9000) and FIAT (the Croma). Was there a 4th player in that collaboration?

88 Lada Niva "on the button", €600

This could be a potentially decent old yoke for not a lot of money

I had one in 1982. Mars Red 4 speed diesel. 160,000 miles in just over three years. I couldn't break it, totally reliable. That started my love affair with VW diesels. Still driving them over 2 million miles later and never broke one!

I wish I could say the same, they've all fallen apart on me

Always loved them, far more desirable to me than any land rover.

Silly cheap. Story? Anyone go see it or talk to the seller?

Not very informative about his cars!

I agree with you, a well sorted Niva has a lot of presence but I fear that the button may be his pet name for the trailer. You can't expect much at the price.
