The bit with your man at the 2:20 is hilarious.

"My current car which is an Astra CDI, 1.6.

    Saloon.
    New shape."

Like the TDI, red I brigade.

I think you missed the emotional response I got to the ad in my post. I want it. Yea, the ad is crap. but thats irrelevant, the car, the engine, the colour combo mean I want it, and it looks in half decent nick - so to my eye for that car at that money it looks like a bargain. I wouldnt be writing it off because the lads potentially an a**hole, if I was in the market I'd be going for a look.

Seller should at least run it through the NCT to give a potential buyer an idea of what's needed with the fail sheet. Seller is either a bit of a sap, or he's been hounded with people asking questions on it. A lot of that could be avoided with a test.

This is a lot of money, but very cool. No idea if it's good value or not.

Yeah never seen one before for sale here. Prefer the saloon. Think it’s worth the money.

A man is rich in proportion to the number of things which he can afford to let alone.

there is no way thats worth 20 grand...

Not cheap but hell I want it! Even has rare as hens teeth a/c yet no leather. But that's the way the German companies used to roll. A massive (expensive) options list and so you could end up with some strange spec mixes.

    M2Q3OTdhNTEzZTRkNWQ1NGNlYzlkNzgxZGM5NmQwY2XwaS1yLHiglAvWIRbF88BHaHR0cDovL3MzLWV1LXdlc3QtMS5hbWF6b25hd3MuY29tL2RvbmVkZWFsLmllLXBob3Rvcy9waG90b18xNjY0MzYyMzF8fHwxMjAweDEyMDB8fHx8fHx8fA==.jpeg

    That’s desperate optimistic I think.

I have a 2.0 manual sportline and I’d have put €3k on it.

That car is a steal for that sort of money if it is anywhere half decent.

gone already - and I am still here clutching a lotto ticket :( !

No surprise. You all know I'm the first in the queue here to complain that a car doesn't have a valid NCT. But that tipo 916 was a steal for the money the seller was looking for (and open to offers)

Someone got a bargain there for a magnificent classic car (to be)

And I was going to post something nasty / smartass here about that white Japanese car for €20k vs this beautiful Italian classic for €4k but best not.

That's been for sale for a while, on and off. I think the last ad mentioned the poor quality of the interior, this one doesn't. It seems to be fine apart from the interior, so could be a rolling project for someone.

Thats a nice one allright,, wonder what she's like underneath? Looks fine externally.

Underneath isn't usually the issue with these cars. Bulkheads and inner wings go long before the sills and floor. The rear window shot says it all for me. These cars are usually very damp inside

pure 80's boy racer nonsense. underpriced if it was a clean standard car, overpriced as it is imo

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,079 ✭✭✭✭Duke O Smiley

A running and driving 2.0 Capri in seemingly good condition (brand new tyres are a good sign etc), whatever about an 80s bodykit and some chintzy wheels, is hardly overpriced at €4k in this day and age

Only comparable one on DoneDeal at the minute is €9k

Both Capri's are butchered overpriced shoite. Haven't a clue who the seller is, maybe it's that guy in Ferns. €750 for a "GT" crossflow engine that can't be heard running, nothing wrong with his neck anyway:pac::pac:

    €9000 and damp windows included!

I was never much into Carpis but it's not that bad. Changing the wheels or even shotblasting them bacj to bare metal would go a long way.

I do laugh at the painted bumpers but black spoiler at the same time.

if I had a big shed .... maybe not this one. but one of these would be in it

They got fairly poor reviews when new. Not good in crosswinds

Yeah, but that would not disqualify it from being a good classic car.

exactly - often a cars awfulness or complete failure as a commercial success is exactly what propels it to classic car status
sometimes great ideas badly implemented, or just misunderstood. you could call it the "if we knew then what we know now factor" of a classic.

the A2 was designed to be super light and frugal but carry lots of stuff - and its that exact trait which made it hairy in high winds and look odd which led it to being a bit of a flop. I believe the fact it rocked when sat with the wipers going may have frightened a few folks off too.

I seem to remember the A2 was a commercial flop because the end price to the consumer was way too high. Small car, premium price.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,079 ✭✭✭✭Duke O Smiley

There has been a 1 owner 1.4 TDI A2 in the bangernomics thread for ages now. NCT til 2022, and it’s priced at a grand.

That 1.4 petrol is way too much money.

    I’d love one

That's right. But that made the car rare, as it was technologically advanced and expensive when new. And because of that it is a good candidate for a proper Classic.
