My dad had a fiat 131 back in the day. Found tax book other day, was just wondering was it worth keeping or binning.

My Dad is like this, has a collection of log books for various cars we've had.

Most old Fords, Cortinas, Escorts, Anglias odd BMW and Triumphs too.

Interesting history of the way cars were owned and taxed.

    €1450

Maybe not a bargain, but I do like the look of it.

I had one of those about 15 years ago, for a few years. Short wheelbase commercial, with the big wheels and BFG tyres. The thing was bombproof. Loved it, especially the big duplo switches on the dash. Took us all round the continent, with a bed in the back.
I'd be interested in that Trooper if I had the space.

Price is low though, could be worth a punt. Vintage tax some time next year.

Appears to be a Guernsey reg that was not changed 14 years ago when it was in the uk.
I reckon it could be a VRT nightmare with all this

It is not a guernsey plate. they have up to 5 digits and no letters.

Sorry for any confusion. I went by the ad that said it was first registered in Guernsey, and no where else since. hence I assumed that the plate attached to the car was correct.

    Stand corrected.

My favourite Ferrari of the 70s / 80s (when I was a young lad), but not that much loved at the time. I remember you were able to pick up a pretty good one for not much more than £10000

stunning ! and at that price its only about 50% of its OMSP. How big could Ferrari engine problems be ? Even if they ran to 50k worth that would be a bargain !

Ferrari engines of that era could run into big problems. Then you have the bodywork. You could end up sinking 50k or more into a car like that. If ferraris hold their value, that'll be a good investment nonetheless, but if they don't, and the price has dropped slightly at the top end recently, you could struggle. The new ferrari engines are now very good indeed, much more reliable than porsche I'm told.
That car is a bit like a painting. Buy it if you can afford it, and want to enjoy it, but it will, unlike a painting, not be cheap or maintenance free.
I have a reasonable "classic", not in that league, but theoretically appreciating, but the appreciation is offset by the maintenance and more, despite us being in a frankly bizarre classic car bubble.
The advantage that ferrari has is its rarity.

There must be more than two of them in the country in that colour so if the seller is right and it hasn't been driven for 10 years. I've seen 2 on the roads in Dublin in that colour scheme. One is often seen on the road in the Stepaside area.

I would think that they've had Ferrari or a known Ferrari classic mechanic look at it, and the price reflects that. If it really hasn't been driven then the brakes, suspension and gearbox will need t obe serviced or replaced as well. No idea what condition the body and wiring is in.

Interesting car nonetheless, could be worth a punt if you think values will hold and the car can be back to a 1 or 2+ condition in 6 months.

What a beauty. I'd buy it just to sit in and make engine noises.

Sure how much effort would an overhaul of a flat-12 engine be? :pac:

Connection not secure, I got the same flag myself.
Funny too how a hyphen appears between Done and Deal.
    Not noticed that before.

    Yeah, use this link instead:

I think the done-deal link is actually their domain too, just bad domain management and redirecting causing alarm bells.
