That Triumph seems familiar. Was looking at it last night, nice little car for the money

I have a few miscellaneous engine bits and other gubbins at home in the shed to suit one of those

Maybe I'm wrong but that looks like a Triumph 1500 to me rather than a Toledo??
If it is a Toledo then a 1500 would be pretty rare as they were predominantly 1300cc.

That is a Dolomite. I know it's badged as a
Toledo but the rear light cluster is vertical on a Toledo.

The interior was clean, original etc. As i said, that colour of leather is very rare and appealing. It had some minor leather cracking when I sold it. It was a lovely car and is still well worth buying. The engine and autobox were spot on. It was not a neglected W124.

Never mind what the internet cranks here have said about the rust. Very easy to make nonsense comments from a dark room with very little exposure to the outside world.

Anyway, its an original W124 with an NCT! Just buy it and give it some love.

    Couldn't tell you about insurance.

    It's a 1500 TC.

That would be one of the last registered early in 1976 in Meath.

They replaced them and the Toledo with the Dolomite in 1976.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,358 ✭✭✭kev1.3s

Jesus Jim you have some anger issues or what? how do you know how the car was maintained or held up since you sold it?
If I were going to buy a car and seeing obvious surface rust I'd be more than a little concerned that there were possible bigger issues, especially where the car in question has a tendency to rust anyway.

Any man who can make sense of the model soup that was the 1300/1500/toledo/dolomite era deserves respect.

British Leyland were a bit all over the place alright but the Dolomite Sprint was the one to keep :)

There's a lot of interest in the states in obscure Japanese cars at the moment, especially as lots of them are now past their 25 year import rule, but the asking on that Figaro is in dreamer territory. A good Pao or Figaro might manage to scrape past $10k over there, but not much more.

I feel about the same about Figaros etc. as many people feel about 'new' Beaufort wedding cars.

To each their own, but nope.

One of the few W123's that I've seen that are probably worth the asking.

The blue W123 above it looks tired. Both the same price. Easy choice if you're in the market for one.

Did you drive it? WHat it like , is it somewhat refined when up and moving?

No, and to be honest I can't see from the mobile how the sills and usual spots are looking.

But the stance is very good and little details like the magazine netting on the backs of the seats being in good condition would give me some hope.

A 300D Auto is about as good as it gets and the strong exterior and light interior colours are excellent IMO.

I could be wrong and as per usual a close inspection could show up plenty of things, but I'd have a lot more confidence looking at that then the blue one.

I once got a perfectly good one for €25 around 2000, so I have issues paying €7,800 for one :)

I've had plenty with TUV's in good mechanical condition that I got for well under €1000 back in the 90's. They were always a budget car for me. I've excellent memories of them.
