Anyone know what the problem is? I can't connect to it, everything else is fine.

Could do with more information but I'll jump.

Check your proxies as dropbox doesn't always play well with them.

Is your ISP NWE? Looks like its their border router.

Yes, but why Dropbox? All else was ok.
Anyway it's working now - but thanks.

It didnt have a route to 108.160.165.147 or the one it used went dead and it didnt have a failover. Or somebody else advertised a bad route (Ukrainian ISP did that last week).

I am an absolute ignoramus re technology so do excuse if my question seems stupid but would appreciate help.

I understand you can download Dropbox on laptop and mobile device.

    1. Can it be downloaded to a Windows Phone?

    2. If it can, are you required to give your mobile number to download on your laptop and/or mobile? This is something I would hesitate to do.

Should I be concerned about that? Am I being too cautious?

    Thanks for any advice.

    1. Yes, go to Dropbox.com
    2. As far as I remember you just log in with your email address. I wouldn't worry about giving my phone number. I'm sure if they were going to use the info people save on their servers that there would be a lot more interesting stuff in there than your phone number!

I think in order to continue downloading dropbox or registering with them (or something like that) you may have no option but to give that info otherwise i think you can't continue downloading. But I am not sure.
    Again, thank you.

Just use dropbox in a web browser if you are concerned

    Thanks for response.

Being such an ignoramus I don't know what you mean. Use dropbox in a web browser? is this different from downloading it?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,576 ✭✭✭excollier

Yes it is different, it means you just access it from your web browser instead of downloading the app. Not sure about phones, but on a computer when the app is used, another folder is made that is identical to the dropbox out in the cloud, and the two are synchronized every time one or the other is changed. Simpler to use but takes up extra storage space on the computer.
