RDR2 seems to be huge .....with even non-gamers taking an interest in it.......RDR2 may even take the mantle from GTA5

What I'm particularly hoping is that this game leads to a revival in Hollywood and mainstream TV for the Wild West

I loved the Deadwood series back in 2004-2006 ....but I feel it never got the applause it deserved

Hopefully Red Dead Redemption 2 and it's popularity will see something which we have not seen since the early 1970s....

...aka. A revival of the Western

Would be great to see a revival of the likes of TV shows as Rawhide and Bonanza ....not to mention the Clint Eastwood style spaghetti westerns

I haven't been to the Cinema in years......but if a new Red Dead Redemption movie starring a badass Clint Eastwood type comes along.....then sign me up

Red Dead Redemption and Spaghetti Westerns are like bread and butter

My white Arabian just... disappeared last night. It must have got a smack from the train in the mission where
Penelope Braithwaite asks you to get her and Beau to the train so they can leave for Boston
, as I noticed at one stage that the horse was running alongside it during the shoot-out. I whistled for it after the mission ended, and it said that I had lost my saddle and I can retrieve it by going back or going to a stables. Didn't know what was going on, but that was a pain in the arse.

Went to St. Denis and bought the black Arabian to replace it. It fits nicely with the "man in black" persona I was adopting, anyway. All black clothes, blackened steel weapons and now a black horse.

But death rides a pale horse.

I havnt been playing this game and I will likely never play it but I've been following the thread religiously just to see what triggers gimli next.

    Jolly good show.

Some say that if you listen closely to the wind, you can hear Gimli cursing that White Arabian near Lake Isabella.

Has anyone encountered the ghost train yet? Or the white lady in the swamps?

I found 2 guys in white KKK get ups and a guy in a black KKK outfit trying to erect a cross ,I startled them and the 2 guys in white panicked and dropped the cross on themselves killing both .
I had to kill the last fella outta sympathy.
Ha ha these little gems keep popping up and putting a smile on my face.

    Hey lads

I've paid off my bountys everywhere but in Lemoyne here and there I get attacked a lot. I'm nearly finished chapter 4.

    Whats the jazz there?

    Are you
getting attacked by lawmen or Lemoyne Raiders? The raiders tend to show up between towns and you can normally end up with 7 or 8 of them trying to ambush you at once

I know I may be shot, but I think i prefer the 2010 Red Dead redemption game.

This one is actually too realistic, I go to a game to not be 100% like real life.

It is still very good though, miles ahead of anything that isnt GTA 5, Witcher or Skyrim!!

Did you come across them all having a meeting earlier on? I went to toss some dynamite into the crowd but had none so had to petrol bomb them, 2 got away. I was wondering if this encounter was because of the two that got away while I had to adjust my aim on the first encounter.

Love this game and I am not a huge gamer. I like GTA but really only play it for a drive and around and cause a bit of hassle.
Loved original Game so was apprehensive how I would like this one, but I have to say I love it’s laid back attitude and it’s the first game I have finished and wanted to finish in a long time.
I used to love the older medal of honour games and I have finished many games since.
Wife thinks I am mad ... a middle aged man staying up all hours to play it, kids haven’t got near the PS4 in over a week ;)

Finished the story now so looking forward to going back and exploring a lot more. A lot more to see and do.

Quick question. When travelling around you see camp fire smoke in the air.

It seems to me that the vast majority (I am only on chapter 2) of these are simply shooting matches. Whenever I approach the guys always pull there guns.

Not complaining, but fail the see the reason behind them as any more than the normal passer by.

Sometimes they're not aggressive and you can meet interesting characters and get helpful provisions

Lads, on the Premium Cigarette cards, you can just buy the premium cigarettes at a shop and they will come with the cards! Buy, open, sell, repeat!

If I ever replay the story I'll skip all of chapter 6's side missions. It's too long if you do them all and they mostly detracted from the main story for me, especially the way some of them dump you on the far side of the map. First time in the game I had an issue with the travelling back and forth.

Where do you sell premium smokes? Nobody will buy them off me, I'm torn between just discarding them or giving Arthur one awful case of lung cancer!

Catching them legendary fish is exhausting. 3 down, joysticks ruined, thumbs nackered. :(

General stores. You don't get much money for them anyway so you'd be better off discarding them. You can only buy 5 at a time.

Its a pain in the face alright. They do not count for 100% thankfully. Completion rewards are not great
Special Lure for all and $45 and meat for 10

You should make a lot of money back from selling the duplicate cig cards to the fence anyway.

I've only played about 3 hours but so far the shooting feels very last generation or something. It's not as meaty as other games like TLOU, which is a shame.

You're still only at the beginning. I think it was about 15 hours before I learned to fish. Keep with it, it really opens up after the first camp move.

Come back and say that after a few more hours, when you are unloading 16 bullets in to a guys face with dead eye :D There's a real weight to combat in this, as it should be.

I wish there was a bare knuckle fighting tournament, similar to Witcher 3's. Each saloon could have a resident hardman who you batter outside for whatever reward. I find the punching to have a nice weight to it.
