Whatever way you look it at it from either side of the console spectrum, if you have a Pro/X, it's not worthwhile buying the other system for the game unless you have literally nothing else to do with your dollars.

Yeah. If you had no console and wanted to play RDR2 with the best graphics, XB1X would be the right choice (pending likely future PC release, but who can wait for that?). But if you already have the Pro, that's a lot of money you'd be putting down for even a second hand console for a difference that will likely not be that noticeable, if at all (depending on your TV, how far away from it you sit etc).

You'd be crazy imo, but as others have said, if you have the money to burn, burn baby burn!

Have the old bog standard ps4 which has served me well and haven't been tempted to upgrade to a pro, until the preview videos for this started dropping that is.

Would it be worth my while though if I was only going to be playing it in 1080p on a non hdr tv.
Will it still look great on a standard ps4.

Never played the first Red Dead Redemption, but am definitely getting this on Friday becase it looks class and also cause of the hype.

Just curious though, like in GTA you can just roam around doping as you please and it can be very fun and entertaining, is this game similar in that you can just have fun roaming around doing random things?

If GameStop do a deal like they did with Spiderman I see no harm. Otherwise it's a bit expensive to upgrade.

I'd say you might be better off staying with the standard PS4, particularly if your TV is non-4K non-HDR. Like TitianGerm said though, if you get a good enough deal you could maybe go for it as future-proofing for if you do then upgrade the TV. It'll still look great on a normal TV though.

Yeah, it's basically GTA but in the Wild West. There'll be very different things to go round doing due to the setting/time, but there'll be plenty to do outside the main story missions, like hunting, fishing, playing poker, other minigames, or just going round shooting people.

Digital Foundry will surely do good analyses of graphics and performance differences between PS4 base and Pro (and the xboxes). But i'm not sure how long they will take to do it.

It's a common question and there's no right answer. Just research and decide for yourself.

How long do smyths open for the midnight opening? Do you have to be in line before midnight or do they stay open for a while?

I'm going to be in town tomorrow night so if I was near there I might pop in. That way I can stick on the download / install while I'm on the way to work and have it ready for when I get home

i checked smyths an hour ago and i could pre-order it to collect on thursday night, by the time i went to cancel my amazon order it changed from add to basket to out of stock, anyone know if there's a point in me going there anyway to try and grab a copy regardless or is it one of those if it's out it's out thing?

5am or 8am depending whether the unlock is Eastern or Pacific standard time.

On PS4? If so when you click the game it will give you a countdown until you can play it.

I imagine Xbox has something similar.
