Bit of a dummy question here since I usually use PC with an XBox controller but am playing this on the girlfriend's PS4 and have only got a few hours in so far, but when you gain/upgrade/etc something it always says "press [button] for info"... except the buttons shown on screen look exactly like a mouse, with one button black and the other that I assume you're supposed to press in white?

I've tried seemingly every button including the large one in the middle of the controller and the two that typically go under select/start, can anyone let me know what blatantly obvious button I am missing please? :o

The button prompt I get for more info on something is to hold down the options button (just right of the touchpad)

    That
    drinking scene with Lenny
is one of the best/funniest/well done pieces of choreographed gameplay I've ever seen.

Only got a bronze so I'm gonna replay it.

Most of the folk I interact with in the game are fine decent people.

However, if I pass by somebody and they say something nasty to me, I don't hesitate in beating the snot out of them.

And in one case, I lasso-ed some unpleasant individual off his horse, hogtied him and left him on the railwayline. Good riddance to you mister

Each mission has objectives and you get either a Bronze, Silver or Gold rating for completing them, similar to GTA.

Something weird just happened, I was on my horse and came across a handful of gang members who chased me own and attacked - during the gunfight my screen faded to black and I ended up back at my camp with my horse. I didn't die though. What happened there?

This just happened to me too, had a shoot out with two random guys killed one and before I could kill the other the screen went black and I ended up at my camp, I wasn’t even shot once.

Fantastic little easter egg down on
    Gill Landing
, not going to say what it is though, just head down yourselves and look out for a tipped over rowing boat.

Is fast travel only available from the camp? Can I do out in the world?

On the first train mission and a wagon I saved from a robbery (guy let me take the stuff as it was covered by insurance) there was something I couldn’t take in each cause I had to much of whatever it was I couldn’t take. I presume it’s not cash and was prob bullets?

Also I accidentally shot the hotel owner instead of talking with him and my bounty is now 140 (I went berserk the first time I was going into town and shot loads of people without realizing what would happen!). Where do I watch out for people looking for me? I want to go into town to do a bounty to cover my own bounty but don’t know how safe it is to go in.

Also any easy money tips would be appreciated...

So what’s the verdict on the game so far? loved the first rdr, I’m liking this one but one thing that’s frustrating is how slow arthur moves, it’s so labored, anyone else find that?

I find the game itself to b outstanding but the controls are the worst part of it.

Yeah it looks amazing and really like the storyline but it’s a very simple thing he’s just so slow and reaction speed is slow or something I don’t know sluggish like

I'm enjoying the game a lot more the more I get into it and get more used to maintaining cores and gear etc. I still think there are some big missteps in terms of controls and just how much maintenance and forced realism (see Jim Sterling's new video for a good breakdown on why it's an issue) there is in the game, but getting deeper into the story, new areas and weapons is making it all more palatable.

Just beat that annoying fella in the Valentine saloon and took his racoons hat. Had to knock him down about 10 times before he didn't get up, tough old bastard! He started it and yet I lost honour!

Going through Valentine late at night and a hooker was whispering for me to come down an alley.
Did so right away and she said she needed help. She brought me up to her room upstairs in the Saloon where there was a dead guy on the bed with a knife through his chest. She begged me to get rid of him and told me to throw him in a pig pen around back where the evidence will be disposed of. Pigs started tucking into him and I went back and she was trying to scrub blood out of the sheets and I got $13.

    Good times.

I spent an embarrassing amount of time earlier trying to find a bear. No joy. Are they meant to be pretty hard to find or am I just crap at this game?

I was tracking one of the legendary animals for about 45 minutes, stuck a few arrows in him and he kept running off to different locations. Tracked him down to what must have been his final breath and along come a gang of poxy bounty hunters shooting at me and f*cked it all up

Have about 26/28 hours on this so far and only just reached Chapter 3. Incredible game, this is without a doubt going on my all time favourites list.

Oh cool, a bear. FFS horsie. Yupp, rifle on the horse. Hammering square and R1 for some reason, didn't see the circle prompt. Got Leonardo dicaprio'd.

Don't start missions with a something big like a bear skin on your horse. I got there hopped off , then a cut scene and some back and forth then had to chase someone down as I was pulling away to give chase I noticed the skin missing.

Obviously the game sees the additional weight as a problem for the chase so removes it. Not a one off I was able to reload the save and replicate this. It was a perfect one I lost too so lucky I was able to reload.

The Sheriffs doesn't show on the map? I keep trying to find one to hand myself in but can never find one..

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,239 ✭✭✭Pussyhands

I find the travel annoying. It's just so far to ride horseback to some locations. Fast travel is tricky. Hard to know which town you need to go to and the icons are tiny on the map.

You pay your bounty at the post office.

I love lasso'ing lads off horses and then pulling them around. Or sometimes throwing them off cliffs while hogtied. I also love pulling them aroud on the horse until they're dead. Or lastly just tying them up and putting a bullet in their head. :-)
