Visually I would not say it's amazing. The graphics look a bit dated.
    I'm actually gobsmacked............

In terms of scale and detail i would say it's easily the best looking game ever made.

Anyone come across the fat guy with the wife when you break into a house?

He needed about 8 bullets to be killed and his wife almost knifed me to death. :)

Ha yeah, I went to rob them and thought I would do the ole greet them shoot approach. But when they invited me in for dinner, I had to see how it played out. Was not disappointed :D

    Definitely.

I got the guts of 4.5 - 5 years out of GTA Online (from 2013 to, more sporadically, 2018) and really enjoyed it. In fact, in the lead up to this I played a few heists with the bros. Really looking forward to what they can do with online (I presume chrome wagon wheels, matt finish on the wagon cover, metallic blue horses manes) but wonder will it too big a map for it to have a much mayhem potential at GTA? I'm looking forward to finding out!

What I would like to do in online is get a covered wagon and load the back of it with dead bodies. I will drop the dead bodies into a canyon with a massive drop to the bottom. Nobody will ever find 'em there.

Anybody killed the legendary moose ? I killed him but it won't let me skin it. It's body is in the river and when I hold the prompt nothing happens

Are they not a bit limited in what they can do? Horse racing, duels, gang wars and minigames will be the core of it.

No high rise luxury apartments or super cars to really tempt players into splashing cash.

Maybe I'm being harsh, but the 30fps is really annoying, and the low resolution (on xbox at least) is causing blurry textures.

Lasso it and drag it out of the river? Might work.

Probably things like buying ranches and stables.

    Bigger ranches = €€€
Bigger ranches + more stables + more horses = €€€

I'm assuming they'll have online horses that will cost a lot.

I reckon the mini games will be source of cash too, like having a big poker tournament with a buy in and prize money on offer.

Rockstar are no mugs, they'll have it all ready to go to extract every little € out of people mad enough to spend it on shark cards or whatever they equivalent will be for RDR2.

Definitely limited in what they can do online. Poker will be a laugh, hope it's in anyway. Customisation is limited, only so many cowboy hats and coats you can have, same with horses. Trophies say you will have a camp you can customise. Hoping they add shacks, ranches, etc. Plus, the fact the map is so big, harder to meet up with crew. In GTA, was a quick super car journey down the map. Hoping you can get travel or down on crew members.

Came across Emmet Granger on lunch,
one of the gunslingers linked to the Calloaway story.
First time using the draw function and because it doesnt give you much of a heads up I was pulling R2 straight off the bat, died a good 3 times before I realised you had to slowly press down on R2, no problem after that.

Im a good few hours into the game and it was the first time I needed to, or was prompted to use it but when I came across
a bridge locked down by the O'Driscolls I used it to good effect to get the jump on them.

Got to chapter V last night. The pace has picked up considerably and it's absolutely fantastic. Easily the best campaign in a rockstar game ( in my opinion anyways ). This game, despite its few quirks is a masterpiece and there have been many occasions while travelling through the map that left me speechless due to it's incredible detail and probably the best lighting i've ever seen in an open world. I dont want it to end!

If you use the rope to pull him in you might be able to skin him on dry land, happened to me a few times, I caught a grizzly in a lake and shot him and roped him in and skinned him

Haha - no I didn't rob her, I gave her a lift back to her town...Annesburg I believe, took me feckin' ages to get there....plus I had just killed the legendary bear and skinned him, and couldn't carry both her and the pelt on the horse, so ended up loosing the pelt :(

Ha I was in the exact same situation but there was no way I was taking that pelt off my horse, so Arthur basically goes to her, "Sorry Ma'am but you gotta walk there yourself" and off I went.

Hold right on the d-pad to open your satchel and check if you have any maps in there, you might have collected one. They can be found around the world but can't be bought anywhere.

Cheers yeah, I checked that last night. Dont have any new one (apart from the hill gang one ??). Just was wondering what the msg was. At least I know they cant be bought now so that saves me traipsing around to the fences, cheers!!

You choose the random woman over the legendary pelt? I hope you got a fair bit of honor for that, if nothing else

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,229 ✭✭✭Gyan84

Couldn't lasso the moose but managed to push it on to the shore with my horse and then once I tried skinning it it just skipped the animation and the pelt was on Arthur's shoulder.

Has anybody gotten a tip for a homestead to rob from a stranger ? I got one from some pervert out in the middle of nowhere who was looking in people's windows.

He told me the location of a house to rob but I can't find it. I'll put the description in spoilers in case people want to find it themselves and hopefully someone who has found it can tell me where I'm meant to go.
He told me that there was a wealthy woman north of Annesburg who lives alone and would be easy to rob. I checked the task viewer with the d-pad and it said there's a newly wed couple far north of Van Horn. I've explored all the north east of the map and the only places I could have missed was one tiny place that the windows were too small to jump in and the big building with the lightning rod behind it that's fully locked.

How do you get the other camp members to request stuff? Do you need to progress the story? So far Dutch has been to only one to ask for anything.

Just hang around the camp and they will come to you, dont dismiss them. One of them is on a mission in Rhodes.

trying to relax after a day in work this is not the game to do it. Said I'd log in and do a mission. Spawned by the lake in camp. Well while I'm here. Fished for about 20 minutes, then when I was walking through the camp I passed by the poker table another 20 minutes, had a shave put some grease? in my hair, read a book about nature. Finally got to the mission.

Started off well then went to hell. Shoot out heavily outnumbered in a barn. Combat remains offal. I can get over that guns are not accurate as it adds a bit of realism but the combat is terribad. Trying to move around and then get in position but when aiming you're blocked by a random pole, cue another movement struggle. Then in the woods and trying to get into cover, first ran backwards to a tree, can't tell friend from foe, move forward climbed on top of instead of behind the rock when hitting the cover button, while I'm taking an age getting down mission fails as one of my allies is killed.

I've seen two versions of it. A large group and then a group of 3 carrying a cross. I won't mention more as it will spoil it. Funny alright.

Was trying for ages to get the wagon for
    john's mission
over and over I couldn't stealth it. In the end I got close and
fired my gun in the air to spook the horses and they brought it too me, no wanted level or nothing
    :pac:

Absolutely brilliant, love how the letter was like a
proper agenda for a meeting, the part about the flammable robes had me in stitches especially given what went down.

Your horse being out of "whistling range" is taking the detail to stupid and annoying levels. Pretty sure every other AAA game with a horse has a spawn behind you feature when you call for it, for good reason.
