there's a tea specialist in the milk market on a saturday, she's usually situated on the righthand side as you go in the front entrance, near the art gallery

If that fails, you could ask at the Stormy Teacup in Fox's Bow.

Are you looking for the mother or the drink itself?
There used to be a brand of it in the supermarkets years ago it was called Kombucha - haven't seen it in a long time - well I haven't been looking for it.
If you are looking for a mother to ferment your own, I got one from this website about ten years ago - http://www.kombu.de

You can even make it from your favourite soft drink - I used to use coca-cola and 7up, tea, coffee, anything really that I fancied.

If you get a batch going, could you PM me and pass on one of the babies?
You get a baby after every every batch, and the mother gets thicker, so you can re-use the mother or use a baby.
For best results use a pyrex dish that is wider than it is deep. Kombucha ferments better when there is a wide surface area.

    Best of luck with it.

Id imagine using Coca-cola which contains massive amounts of High Fructose Corn Syrup can't be good for the Kombucha or the person drinking it !!! despite how god damn tasty it is ....

I will be getting some Kombucha and some Water Kefir in the next week if anyone would like some when it grows

I love the idea of the Kombucha being called a Skoby .... very Limerick

It's tasty, but I often wondered about where the sugar went, it must turn into a culture of some kind. If you leave it long enough it can taste like car battery acid - DISCLAIMER: Purely imaginative simile, I have no idea what car battery acid tastes like -
It can get really acidic. Have you ever eaten Toxic Waste?
The sweet/candy not actual toxic waste.
    A bit like that.

Please put my name down on your queue for a kombucha baby when it's ready. Thank You.

I'm picturing Sigourney Weaver being called in to sort out a bad batch of it from what I've heard here!

Okay, so unproven health benefits and drink too much and you could die. Not something I'll be drinking ever!

Sue in The Grove on Cecil St makes her own kombucha. Might get some help there.

Has anyone had any luck converting milk kefir grains into water grains?
I was given milk grains and I hate milk... I tried it with coconut milk but it didn't work so I put it into hibernation in milk in the fridge... Must be around 10 months ago at least!
I've recently been hearing more & more about water kefir so was thinking of trying them on that... That's if they are still alive!!!
    Any thoughts/advice welcome!!
