Lads with a record of 0-0 or 3-0 against a load of bums talking like they're big names just come across as morons.

Dannis acting like he doesn't know who Neiman Gracie is despite them both being based in NY and in the top two academies in the US, him being a nephew of Renzo, having already fought in WSOF and Bellator.

Dannis has been running away from Renzo's crew for years, no wonder he turned down a fight with one of them.

He was on instagram live one day I asked him why are you ducking tonon? his reply was ''hes not the money fight''

Gob****e Danis wont even have a fight in Bellator unless they can find somebody who cant strike or defend a td,

Yeah its comfirmed today Faber v Miyao on it too, Shields will give him a clatter reguardless wont be the first time he done it.

Admittedly, I haven't seen many of Chinzo's fights. Seen a bit of him on Joubans training camp videos.
But I think in situations like that they get too much credit simply for being the brother of a great fighter.
It's like on TUF where they hype [UFC Figher]'s brother, only for him to lose in the first round.

Machida is getting to the point where he should retire he's 38. Choinzo is his older brother.
I know he has a similar karate background to Lyoto. How is his jiu jitsu?
If he's a black belt, James could stuggle to find a area where he is better.

12 time Brazilian full contact karate champion and bjj black belt.

He's got the hands, the feets and the ground game.

He's also got a much longer record than 5-0, he's been fighting mma in brazil for years.

Not really, Machida isn't exactly a top level MMA fighter. He's a world class Karate fighter and a good BJJ practitioner, beyond that it's hard to say because he hasn't fought any top tier fighters.

You just as easily say GAry & Gordon are ducking Danis. Either has only entered the big east coast comps when the other isn't there by the looks of things. just get them all in together FFS.
It's frustrating that they all consider themselves bigger than a lot of the tourneys. Although, it's ADCC this year, so it might happen.

Ryan and Tonon have offered to fight Dannis on EBI or any other major professional format for money and Dannis keeps running and talking **** as he goes.

And Garry took Dillon's knee home with him in 2015.

Are you serious? they have been hounding him Danaher had to step in and tell them to stop with the social media calls outs Tonon broke his leg before hence why hes ducking Danahers lads the chap is a moron, the idea of Tonon or Gordon ducking anyone is hilarious too if you followed the grappling scene pair of them compete every week any weight any comp, difference is though they dont pretend their mma fighters like Danis goes on.

If he's a BJJ black belt then I'd worry for Gallagher. Thought he may have been karate only/mostly.
Gallagher is at best what, a decent purple belt?

Chinzo's record shows 3 fights in brazil back in 2005, losing 2. He's 5-2 overall.
Maybe there's other fights not listed.

    Shields is whiny and annoying.

    .

I actually can't confirm that he's a BJJ black belt, but there's footage of him rolling in 2012 with his bother and he's wearing a brown belt. So he's at least a brown belt for the last 5 years but AFAIR he's a black belt.

Tonnen getting a hold of your leg is a thing of nightmares..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,615 ✭✭✭✭Mellor

Ryan and Tonon have offered to fight Dannis on EBI or any other major professional format for money and Dannis keeps running and talking **** as he goes.

And Garry took Dillon's knee home with him in 2015.

Gordon offers to fight everyone. He offer to fight the entire dream team back to back at one point.
But they are just empty offers if they go no further.
Same as the endless "I'll give you in MMA" "No. I'll fight you in MMA"

Dilion v Tonon at ADCC 2015 was the time they fought.
Since then they have both avoided opportunities to face each other. Dillion has competed at Pans Americas, but Gordon wasn't able to enter.
Garry opted not to compete in certain formats that weren't going to pay him.

I get that they all need to be paid, but I also want to see the best guys face each other.
    Gamebred wrote: »

LOL, come on, you're actually questioning if I follow grappling?

They were all bangin on about it, but actually avoiding comps where they would face each other. I'm not saying he is afraid to face him. I'm pointing out that they've chosen not to. Like Pans, and stuff like that.
Gordon congratulated Danis when he won, but added "only because I wasn't there". Which is frustrating as a fan, instead of going on like that maybe try entering.

Garry has competed very little this year. Not sure what matches you've seen every week. He's goes on about MMA as much as Danis. Two years ago he challenged Ryan Hall after Hall slagged him off over ADCC. Never happened though obviously. Not sure if he'll enter this year, hope he does.
    • Garry gets a pass on social media because his stuff is funny.
    • Dillion gets at least some negative backlash because of the Conor association.
    • Gordon is probably slated a lot more within the BJJ community for the way he goes on than anyone else. The with crown, and the king schtick. (he's way worse the Danis tbh). He until he beat Keenan, everyone said he beat nobody etc. Now he'll be slated if he keeps avoiding big comps for EBI's and the likes.

TL;DR: I genuinely like all the above guys. I just want to see the best guys face the best guys. If any of them fail to enter ADCC, or turn down invites - I'll considered them full of shit.
Currently only Munch is entered from DDS and MGDT

A seen a picture of him in a black belt, but wasn't sure if it was karate or BJJ.
Be interesting to see how this one plays out.

The danaher leg lock system is impressive. Had the chance to cover a bit of it from Danaher last year and was by far the best few hours of jiu jitsu I've done.
I think they got a pretty unfair wrap after ADCC2015. I'd love to see them dominate this year.
2017 is all about the Danaher back system anyway.

Hes a good grappler Gallagher but the level of bums hes choking makes him look a phenom, Chinzo isnt known for grappling but his Karate here will be very dangerous for Gallagher, the mcgregor copy catting has got him to fight in MSG this early in his career so he will keep using the same schtick, cant support someone who goes to the extremes of getting the same dog as McGregor trying to emulate him its very weird.

They are obviously building him very slowly but he is only 20. Trying to be McGregor is annoying but everyone is trying to do it so he is not alone.

He still has to beat the guy in front of him and Machida does sound a step up from what Marcos and Gamebred have said.

It could be like Sinead Kavanagh.I thought she would easily win her fight against Razafiarison but she got beat. She looked clueless on the ground which I thought John Kavanagh would have had her better prepared.

So once he keeps winning is the main thing. He is still doing great for just 20 years old

That's part of the problem though - everyone gets and accepts that he's young and full of potential. He just makes it difficult to cheer him when he gets on like he's the finished article already - title belt gestures etc

Bellator NYC press conference due to start at 6pm GMT

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P2VVPw11U1I&feature=youtu.be

Sonnen v Silva is a fight I was looking forward to seeing after their spat during TUF Brazil but it's what, 3+ years later?

Bellator are banking on Sonnen to sell the shít out of this PPV but a ton has happened in the meantime to really be interested in this fight.

They'll have to make their own footage because they can't show anything from TUF.

I understand they need recognisable names for a PPV but Larkin/Lima is an excellent title fight on that same card that deserves a big push instead.

Sonnen loses in slightly questionable circumstances.
Silva not fought in bloody ages.

Shít show of a main event that I'll still watch despite my griping.

I think I'll go and dig a bit on Chinzo. I was sure he even had a black belt at the start.
I know James was good as a 16 year old blue belt, wasn't sure if he had continued that progression. I haven't seen much of him in pure grappling. Last was probably the world at juve blue belt a few years ago

Has he done something today? Why the pile on?

I keep saying I understand peoples feelings but its all to hype a fight.I would tell him to tone some of it down alright as it is a blatant rip off of McGregor but it has got him noticed. It got me interested in him but he has to back it up in the cage. Stupid if a guy is talking big with a load of losses. So far its ok for him but it could go all wrong.

I could only turn against an Irish guy if he refused autographs/pictures and wasn't nice to fans.

Well no, it's not ok. He's done nothing other than beat a few cans and started making title belt gestures and is now talking smack to Chandler. You have to earn the right to talk ****e like that. He's done nothing of the sort to date.

I'm not turning against him - i just don't feel compelled to support him. Being Irish has nothing to do with it.

If it was me, I would do the same thing just not the exact copying of McGregor. He should be calling out the champions. The squeakiest wheel gets the grease. There should be, but there is no 'right' in mma. Otherwise it would be boring.

Gallagher calls out the champions.Pico called Gallagher out after he said he would strangle wrestlers.Pico hasn't had an mma fight yet! Diaz called out McGregor even though there was no need for McGregor to fight him. I would have have told Conor to ignore him."Taking everything I worked for "motherf****!!!!"made no sense at all but I loved it and away we go!! CM Punk had no 'right' to be even fighting never mind in the ufc but there he was. The list goes on and on.

Rankings mean nothing. Its all about the entertainment and entertaining fights. I rarely watch Bellator at all but I will watch Gallagher to see how he gets on. This means I will watch the rest of the card too. Marcos said he can't wait to see Gallagher get sparked! I loved that! Presumably he and you will watch hoping to see it happen!! :D

Lads, we're all here's talking about James Gallagher, whatever about the shîte he comes out with, it's clearly working for him if there's a big discussion about him on one of the country's most popular MMA forums. The same goes for Danis.

Professional mixed martial artists have short careers compared to most jobs, they're trying to get paid while they can. We don't have to like what they say, but talk is money these days.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,683 ✭✭✭Subcomandante Marcos

Six or seven lads pointing out that the two of them are morons is hardly grounds to claim their idiocy works.
They're going going to be murdered before the end of the year and crawl back under Conor's ballsack where they came from.
Dannis claiming he's the highest paid fighter in Bellator, he's getting a few grand and a snickers bar if he's lucky, same for Gallagher.

Yes they might be murdered, but their shîtetalk means they'll get paid more than a quieter mixed martial artist would until that happens. Who knows, one or both of them might even go on to have a good, successful career in MMA (I personally doubt it), and then the money will keep getting bigger.

Six or seven lads pointing out that the two of them are morons is six or seven lads that will talk about them and keep them relevant, therefore $$$ for the "two morons". It's not a new concept, boxers (and even pro-wrestlers to a degree) have been doing it for decades before McGregor came along, so anyone that says they're copying his shtick are a bit wrong.

If they don't act in reality like they do on social media, best of luck to the pair of them. They're playing the promotional game pretty well so far, even by just talking absolute bollocks.

McGregor stole his entire image from a male model a couple of years ago, right down to the tattoos, that's far more embarrassing tbh.

The fact there's a random hipster with similar tattoos and a beard hardly means he actively copied the image from him. Everything he does gets scrutinised.
