Won't last long - Patchy Mix stops him in May.

He'll probably wet himself again and then they'll give him an easier opponent again.

    No I don’t think so.

Frans Mlambo has a few wins in Brave.
I think Will Fleury has too.

There were others who fought on those cards previously. Sure they was the odd win.

DJ kod by a knee while he was down a week after he said knees to a down'e opponent in the UFC is pretty mad.

Moraes looked massive compared to him.

He was badly hurt by the uppercut that put him down in the first place as well. Stunning KO.

Yeah the whole exchange was class, it was a great finish.

Well, Pitbull made mincemeat of Sanchez. That was an alright Bellator card. Lara vs Wanatabe though, is it just me or they both look like two amateurs in there - so much wild, sloppy action on both their parts. Also Lara's choice of garment was questionable, few camera moments where they very quickly switched because it looked like it was about to get x-rated....reminded me of this.

    Female sports outfits are strange.
Bikini bottoms on their own looks normal. As in Swimming, surfing, beach volley ball. Even similar in gymnastics, or sometimes athletics.

But stick a mini skirt over it. And it changes the perception. A quick flash as the skirt blows up seems risque, where as on full display and nothing to see here.

It's really not that at all. For example there's nothing wrong with Dennis Hallman's choice of atire there either from that POV...except with the friction and movement of a fight, you are far more likely to be exposed versus wearing more normal fight gear (and Dennis actually was).

Nothing whatsoever to do with the garment inherently, and everything to do with choice of garment for a fight.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,615 ✭✭✭✭Mellor

I was talking about the perception of outfits generally. Not MMA specifically.

There are many things wrong with wearing a pair of budgie smugglers.

Some good fights in PFL last night, Pettis got smashed up by Clay Collard, very very good fight to watch. Got dropped twice in round 2 then nearly came back in round three to win landing a head kick and flying knee.

Lance Palmer got manhandled by Bubba Jenkins, was very surprised at that.

Brendan Loughnane Knocked out Shayman Moraes to go top of the FW league with 6 points for that win. Lovely finish.

Romero out of the Rumble fight.

Was really looking forward to that one.

Luke Thomas and Brian Campbell live hosting Big John and Josh Thompson live from Bellator/Mohegan Sun at the moment. Will be a pile of fun or weird, most likely former :) They have started by talking about how broken hearted they all are too re Rumble/Romero falling out.

    The bookies say he's a 30% shot.
I'd have guessed that was about right, almost on the generous side.

He won. Deserves the credit. Good use of elbows to punish Patricky for not controlling for the arms from that position.
He wasn’t destroying him up to then or anything. Possibly should have been evens not I think about it.[/quote]

Lovely kick by MVP to mess Anderson's nose up but I'm not entirely sure what he was thinking by keeping his hands so low and blocking the kick with his face

Some damage down from that, I'd love to see MVP against Raymond Daniels in Bellator, few fights back in the day in the Irish open.

Just watched the Werdum PFL fight. Other guy clearly taps, Werdum relaxes the triangle and the the other guy keeps fighting and gets the win.

Ref ****ed up, as did the people ringside, should be overruled.

it was a good win..but a lucky one imo.

He was losing 2-0 in rounds. The jab was working for him really well but it was evident he didnt have the power to hurt Pitbull. The leg kicks really hampered PQ but ill give him credit, he dug deep and those elbows were tasty from the bottom.
To get a title shot is a big call after that so maybe a rematch in Dublin with a full irish crowd behind him would be better.

He wasn't according to the scorecards.
The first is maybe a toss up, but there's no way he lost the 2nd. IT was 1-1 at worst.

Ah yes but SBGi so he won't get credit on here. At the end if the day Pitbull didn't control Peter on the ground and allowed himself to get smashed with elbows. Credit to Peter and a good win. Finding a home for legal elbows from bottom does not equal a lucky win

That's it in a nutshell. His positioning in guard was poor. It's like he defaulted to BJJ for a minute.

One FC had an event in India earlier today.

As usual they had a few Muay Thai fights, one of which involved Irishman Seán Clancy from Cork.
Another of the Cian Cowley school of 5294491291736 time "world champion" of unverifiable belts given to people in GAA halls.

Got the absolute ****e slapped out of him.

Brandon Vera also fought Arjan Bhullar for the heavyweight belt.

Disrespectful words about Muay Thai world titles aside, (Sean is a former WBC super lightweight champ, a cage Muay Thai champ and an ISKA Irish champion, also WBC Muay that fighter of the year in 2019) he was absolutely fed to a shark in there. Levels of difference between them and the busted orbital and other damage he picked up early in the fight ended it as a contest anyway.

I like Clancy, nice fella but I'd be worried he's gonna get seriously hurt in 4oz gloves because he is just too easy to hit.

His game has always been take the punishment and his cardio sees him through as the opponent tires but he isn't gonna get away with that with those little gloves.

Siam warriors in cork is a top operation and Martin has been amazing for the sport in Ireland. He has brought over top Thais and consistently puts on great shows. Will always support clubber and hope he does well even if it was just that he is the only Irishman in the organisation but coming from Siam warriors makes it easier to root for him.

Agree with all of this. Any show I went to in the Neptune was always filled with quality fights too.

Seen Sean fight a few times in Thailand, very nice fella too.

Leah McCourt looked exhausted in the first then in serious trouble in the second then pulls a savage finish out of the bag.

Leah McCourt looked exhausted in the first then in serious trouble in the second then pulls a savage finish out of the bag.

She looked like she was about to be finished and had no chance of winning. Struggled to get the takedown, was getting controlled in the clinch and even when she did get Harding down, Harding got up straight away.

That upkick changed things completely though, Harding was rocked to her boots from it and it made the triangle a lot easier to pull off.

That’s not Virgin Media’s fault. They still played the fight. That’s (I assume) just the way your Sky+ works.

I think she did very well to pull that off. I had serious doubts about her going into this one, she had shoulder surgery last year, put on quite a bit of weight and that was telling as she missed by so much at the weigh-in. While no world beater I can't help but root for Leah though, love to see her do well.

I didn't know about the shoulder surgery but I was surprised to see her miss weight by so much.

She was definetly lucky to get the win alright. I can't take to her but I'll always root for her because she's Irish. Her opponent seemed to tap out fairly quick once Leah rolled her over. The up kick was solid though, and well timed when you watch it back. It wasn't just a panicky up kick, it was well placed and intentional.

That was my take away, the upkick had no panic and was placed with perfection.

When a fighter misses weight by so much there's usually a reason, she also looked exhausted in the 1st so potentially killed herself trying to make weight too. I have to give it to her, she travels to Dublin to train daily and is a single mother, fair play.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,440 ✭✭✭Homelander

She could barely catch her breath even in the post fight interview, she definitely got lucky with that win, though to be fair it was a good triangle.

Bit crazy that Leah McCourt is #7 in a division where Cyborg is champion and will now likely to go #6 or #5. In fact Sinead Kavanagh is #5 right now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,505 ✭✭✭but1er

Mccourt vs kavanagh in Dublin is the fight to make

  • Registered Users Posts: 68 ✭✭DodoDojo

I'm glad she got the win in the end, but that was a shocking performance. Leah just looks so stiff when she is striking, she got incredibly lucky that her opponent made the mistake of willingly going to the ground with her when she had her rocked. I just find it hilarious the expectation you would have of her abilities from seeing her instagram and interviews with all the over the top bragging and overconfidence typical of SBG fighters and then seeing her actually fight. She really seems delusional about how good she actually is.

  • Registered Users Posts: 190 ✭✭PatrickDoherty

Yeah agreed a clout chasing Instagram fighter in my opinion, no skills there to back it up.

    Was a nice submission.

Bellator did a huge cut of European fighters recently. I think the Euro series is done.

Frans, Paul Redmond, Rishie Smullen, Karl Moore
Plus other fighters from Italy and the like

    Will Fleury too.

Shame, I enjoyed the events in the Point, great to get to a big show.
