Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

As a neutral listener I would say Callan has a bias towards Labour/liberal socialism.

He goes after sf as much as fg ff

He takes a swipe at everyone. Brendi is one of those who broach no criticism of 'de party'. Ridiculous that he takes this into a radio discussion. Callan is as good as any satirist we have had...whether he is having a go at the pope, FG FF or SF.
I actually think the production values on the show are very high...it's well put together.

Anyone confirm it’s callan on the aldi Halloween ad ?
Not just the Halloween ads - Callan’s been doing VOs for Aldi for some time.

Bernard Whatisname does the ads for Lidl.

    No he doesn’t.

Eh Mr B.... wake up.... what was on the radio 1830- 1900.

    Callans Kicks...

Mr B why do you keep denying the stuff that’s right in front of you.

    It’s a very tiresome trait.

    ??

You have gone off on a rant. I have no idea how that is answer...Callan's Kicks was on at 18.30-19.00????

You're not alone in being lost...

Mr. B(endar that is) maybe you should lay off the diet of Callan's Kicks for your own sanity?
You're not a fan, I think, and maybe hate-listening isn't the best use of your time?

    Just a thought

Jaysus.....you are complaining that this was taken to a radio discussion, it was on the radio, dude.

Mr B... you won’t tire me out, so ditch that strategy.

    Ah get you now.

You are taking your political stance in.

And getting overly upset because your party is the prime target of a satirical show.

That's part of the senior hurling league Brendi...you are going to be the prime target. Get over it, have a laugh, the boogeymen haven't invaded RTE they are just under your bed.

Do you think the production values are good? It's quite well put together IMO given Callan does all the voices.

Dragging you slowly from under your slate Mr B.

You now admit it was radio. That’s a massive step

The satire is so much more effective when it produces your reaction Brendi.

Well done RTE and Callan. I remember the party du jour reacting the same way to Scrap Saturday, when SF shills were unheard of too. Back a wee bit further and Frank Hall upset the comfort of a few pairs of knickers too.
    Satire is alive and well.

And all the above were too Brendan - the chief target being the governments of the day.

Chin up lad - senior hurling and all that! ;)

Sorry Mr B... the Oireachtais should be the chief target.

Mite be a bit more balanced if the pink lad had the odd cut at SF....plenty o material there ...odd he don't seem to have noticed it ?

    Innit ?

Sorry Mr B... the Oireachtais should be the chief target.

He's not trying to lance your boils Brendi.

Any satirical programme I have ever seen or heard the principal target is the government. With some attention for the opposition.

Exactly what Callan does here TBF.

I'll be honest and say that I don't go out of my way to tune in to Callan's Kicks. I recently looked up "curate's egg", which apparently used to describe something that's good in parts. My feeling on Callan's Kicks.

As a child I watched Hall's Pictorial Weekly, and later as a teenager I was enthralled by the mothers of seven, the Minister for Hardship and all those others who were used to prick the gasbags of the time. Truly excellent satire. I seem to remember thinking that it went off the air around the time of a change of government, and that the new crowd weren't going to be held up to ridicule. Of course that might just have been my tin-foil hat - long before they were invented.

Satire isn't meant to be fair Brendi. Satire doesn't have an ombudsman because somebody like Brendi's feeling get hurt. :)

Now I definitely know you don't understand what satire is. THIS is satire because somebody is getting upset about it and having a hissy fit...you. :)

Yes I think Hall was very bitter about how it ended.

Hall was a FF shill, and his targets were invariably the FG led government of the time. I can't think who he reminds me of.

Fianna Fail were the Feel and Fall Party and Charlie was Charlie Hawkeye...they got their fair share if memory serves. You being a tad oversensitive too?

No Mr B, will be listening to evaluate.

    And as usual, being balanced.

    Facts don't care about feelings.

Callan is a satirist, and can be as irreverent as he likes, but he's on the state dime and should show impartiality.

As regards Hall, he was in bed with FF all his life.
Frank Hall had the distinction of single-handedly capsizing the stern-faced Irish government of Liam Cosgrave in 1977′

They looked after him, as FF always did, by giving him the gig as film censor. Perhaps the army council will look after Olly in some way too.

    Good call Pel.

    Will be listening intently.

No problem with him satirizing the ruling parties, none at all.

But he needs to be balanced.....maybe a gaff in Donegal might come his way.

My objection is that my taxes are used to support this shill.

    Nothing else.

    Nothing wrong there.....

13 minutes on everyone but SF.

15 seconds on Moany Loo decrying old man spit and telling everyone to wear their masks.

Almost 14 minutes more on everyone but SF, with six of those exclusively dedicated to FG.

We can see who's renting space in his head anyway.

Heh heh.. dial it down Mr B, not one ‘attack’ on the opposition , but hey, complete load of bollox.

The big box-headed dude up the North must have warned him.

Facts Mr B, just setting out the facts, proved beyond doubt in tonight’s bag of piss.

Satire is meant to be funny. Callan isn’t funny. That’s a serious problem for a satire show. He should stick to the Aldi ads.

I have no problem with the product itself..... just a bit of balance.

And Callan is an SF shill... that’s all there is to it... no big deal.
