Hi all I'm thinking of setting up a new business so regarding a web site should I just do this myself or get someone to do it for me. I want

I sold my previous business last year and had a guy looking after web page emails etc but have times technology moved on and is it just as easy to do myself. I don't really want to do it myself preferring to spend my energy getting the company up and running but again it depends how easy it is nowadays.

I do have a funds to invest in a web page etc if I need to.

I think just by this sentence let a web designer do it for you to save any worries. The last thing you want is to create a sub-par website.

There are things like WordPress and SquareSpace which make the job much easier now but I'd get a web designer to do it for you.

A couple of years ago my wife set up a small business working from home and I couldn't believe how little she had to spend on her website. She used a template/package system that was easy to find online. For someone not used to working with computers she found it very easy to manipulate the text/photos & she enjoyed doing it.
Most importantly the web rankings she had were very high for the specific local service she was providing. It drove business to her for very little outlay.

You could look into getting a pro in to build the site using a CMS like Wordpress and get them to show you how to maintain the site yourself, cutting down on retainer costs. It has got easier to build sites but that doesn't mean that everyone should do it without training.
