How can you even compare the two? Morgan doesn't a rap sheet like Pietersen does he? Strauss and the ECB can trust him and clearly see something in him. Plus he didn't refuse to come back for the game in Dublin, he was allowed to miss it.

It was poorly handled with KP but the correct decision was made again.

KP gives up a fat pay cheque at the IPL , scores runs like he was asked and gets told he won't play for England again....

Morgan scores zilch at the World Cup, can't be bothered to turn up in Dublin to play for England but gets to not only keep his place in the ODI team but also gets rewarded with the captaincy of the T20 side!!

    BIZARRE :confused::confused:

KP obviously causes disharmony in the dressing room, Morgan is popular but will be under pressure to produce results this summer or else his captaincy and his place on the English team will be on the line. How long before he can play for Ireland again?

Pieterson clearly has enemies in the dressing room, but he isn't the great Satin that some people say, Carberry and Compton all have spoke well enough about him, even Swann has not really stuck the boot in.

a cricinfo Aussie writer wrote a cracking article about it.

Essentially points out that Australia have had trouble makers but could handle them, I think Lehmann would have done well with KP, but alas not to be.

Pakistan wouldn't have a team if they were to take dressing room feuds seriously:P

I'd also agree with that, Morgan like many English players desperately needs IPL cricket with the world cup in India next year, I completely understand the ECB allowing him to stay in India.

To be fair on Morgan he turned down a nice juicy contract last year with Kolkata to play four day cricket to try and get a test spot, didn't work out, but it was an admirable move.

I think Morgan will probably get this Summer against NZ and Australia, no progress, he will get the bullet. I'd have binned him myself as he was without doubt the biggest flop in the World Cup, but hopefully he makes good of this chance.

I don't really dislike him myself, much more annoying cricketers out their than him so fingers crossed he makes it count.

I thought Strauss was a very good England captain, if not revolutionary he knew how to get the job done. Depends on the new coach what rubbish we have to come, KP on his own coming back wouldn't have changed that anyway.

I think he was very good at plan execution within the Strauss-Flower straitjacket and I can't see how his new role will see anything but that being implemented further. Something that I don't think will work for those outside who don't get it or weren't in that setup.

Why is he getting involved in whether Pietersen can play or not and meeting him...surely that's up to the coach/captain.

The ECB, Strauss and Cook all have a personal vendetta against KP and that is unfortunately clouding any sensible judgement they can make about the future of English cricket

I am not condoning what KP did and he has got some morons as his friends but like RjD2 said in his post history is littered with maverick cricketers who have been better managed.....and isn't that the job of a coach and a captain - to manage their players rather than run to press saying he did that and he said that

Strauss has backed Cook to be the captain for the summer and as long as Cook is captain KP does not get a look in

It will be, however, interesting to see what happens if the new coach (whoever that might be) takes charge after the NZ series which England have lost and insists on having KP in the team!!!!

Surely the captains main job is to implement plans? Particularly if they end up a in positive result?

The previous Director of Cricket Paul Downton sacked Pietersen so presumably that's why the current one got involved.

I am no behaviour specialist and not bothered about who did what. Everyone one played their part in whatever happened. Some came out worse than others.

KP is good test palyer and personally I would like to see him play. I am not a fan of english cricket, still I want Ashes and NZ series to be competitive. Keeping a good player out, games being one sided, it's just bad advertisement for cricket in general.
