Flying School & Club back at Kilkenny - EIKK

It is great pleasure to announce that a new Flying School and Club, The Irish Flying Club, will be back at Kilkenny Airport in the very near future.

The Irish Flying Club is conveniently based out of Kilkenny Airfield, Ireland’s largest (930m) privately licensed aerodrome. Kilkenny airfield is easily accessible by Dublin, The Midlands, South East and South West.

The airport is ideally situated from many of Ireland airports such as Waterford, Shannon, Cork, Galway, Weston and many smaller strip are only a short flight away. At the airport we have no ATC restrictions which makes it ideal for flight training, where precious flight time is not wasted on the ground or having a long distance to our training area, making lessons more cost effective.

The Irish Flying Club will be utilising a PA-28. The aircraft is one of the most popular aircraft used for flight training in the world. The aircraft has recently been professionally fully restored with no expense spared on it. The aircraft has new interior, new paint and a new engine. Plans for a second aircraft are under way.

Our aim is to provide a high quality service in a safe and enjoyable atmosphere. We will be welcoming all type of students and pilots. PPL flight instruction, SEP renewals and revalidations, hour builders and general hire for club members. The school will have recently refurbished classrooms, our rates will be very competitively priced and we aim to make PPL flight training more affordable.

The team behind The Irish Flying Club have a real passion for aviation in Ireland. There is a great history of aviation at Kilkenny Airport and the surrounding areas and we want to resurrect that back at the airport. With many years of experience and a variety of general aviation backgrounds the team will succeed. At the airport, especially the weekends, there can be up to 100 people or more at the airport and this creates a special atmosphere and buzz.

We are waiting on final RTF approval but this is due very soon.

For any initial inquires you can send me a PM here. Our website will be launched very soon.

    Happy Flying & Blue Skies,

    Stephen McDonnell

Would be great to see the airfield develop further, perhaps a tarred runway etc.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but does anyone know if Kilkenny Flying Club are still in business? Have been trying to contact them for a few weeks now to use a flying voucher but can't get through on phone or email. We did get an initial reply to say the plane was out action but that was weeks ago and now we can't get in touch at all.
