Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Club kit and crash replacement

Floating this idea in the club at the moment. The idea being that if you crash in a race/event and shred your jersey, and you get a discounted replacement to ease the pain/expense of the crash.

Anyone know of clubs that do it? The only non-commercial policy that I could find online is at http://swamis.org/page-776106

Their criteria seem sound - member known to the committee and in good standing, do a certain number of events, and limited to one per year.

I would limit it to only sanctioned events. Be that open racing, league racing, sportives or whatever. The committee could decide which events count.

basically, training would be ruled out though. I certainly think that if you are representing your club in an event then should help should be provided.

Should this not entail all 'racing' members to add to a fund for these scenarios, after all why should non-racing members fund this?

    Do non-racers never crash?

I'd be happy to have part of my club fees go to this and I don't race. Our club racers are a source of pride to everybody in the club.

Except Buffalo. Nobody can afford to pay for all the crashing he does.

Of course they do but in your OP you said "race/event". It depends what you mean by "event" I suppose. Many club members do not participate in races or events but still have accidents.

It is strange that, unlike football clubs etc, you are expected to buy your own kit.

While that is fine for training etc, when at races, if racing for the team, the least any club should be doing is helping to allay some of the cost if the team kit is wrecked in a crash.

Where are the sponsors on this, their advertising is being carried by the jersey. Surely that should lead to some reduction in the cost? (that of course varies from club to club).

Would it be an option, particularly for the bigger clubs, to get some sort of rebate scheme from the gear makers. Orwell, for example, must be putting in quite a large order and I would think that there is some scope for discounts on follow up/replacements.

The Ring of Kerry is an event, the Mount Leinster Challenge, Paris-Brest-Paris, etc. A spin with your mates or a morning commute is not an event, as you're not expected to wear your club kit then. Though of course you can if you like.

You've obviously never been on a spin with my mates.... ;)

Orwell is just finalising the purchase of Bangladesh to bring some certainty to its supply chain.
