Has anyone got any idea what is going on with the houses in there? Seem to be ripping out the windows and doors in most of the houses. Also think kitchen units are also coming out.

Considering when they were built its too long for the possibly obvious answer (pyrite) by a long time. Is it all or just a few? Could be a single owner of multiple for the corporate rental sector doing an upgrade

It is pyrite. Nearly all the houses on that block are being gutted completely - everything except the outer walls. Foundations to be pumped and all internal walls replaced.

edit - they are all owner-occupied btw - not rentals.

Was in there early this morning and was wondering what was going on. 6 of the 10 houses are empty.

It's a very very long time for pyrite - were people living with collapsing interiors for years?

Yes. They've been looking for action for years. Crevices inside you could fit your arm in.

Just as well my mother never won the lotto then - she's had her eye on a house there since they were built!

Not as lucky as we're feeling today. 2 years ago we'd a deal done on one of those houses only for it to fall apart due to banks - their end.

Oh and to double our luck we were using Robert Sweeney's solicitors.

Happily in Maynooth now in a new build but I'm fairly sure one the world's unluckiest families live there.
