If you cared to look up missing persons statistics you'd know that the vast vast majority of missing persons cases end with the person coming home safely. Though you wouldn't think it going by the media.

Not the missing persons cases that end up on the news with massive man hunts.

Lots of people go missing every day and they don't make the news because the police have no reason to believe they are in danger and they think they will turn up.

When a manhunt starts and the case makes all the main news channels then you know it's not a case like the majority of the others who more than likely are coming home.
These cases make the news for a reason.

It's reported she lives near the farm they are searching.

Police have been known in the past to give a few details in press releases that are untrue just to see how a suspect reacts.

Anyway, SkyNews have confirmed it's the same 21 now..

Anyway, SkyNews have confirmed it's the same 21 now and included a pic of him also, which so far I hadn't seen the media use.

    http://news.sky.com/story/1465700/man-21-detained-in-hunt-for-missing-student

That pic was shown on the tabloid websites this morning. It is him leaving court last year during his forgery trial

I was going to post this earlier in response to some of the speculation in the other thread. This was before the arrest obviously. Just a response to different remarks made in that thread.

Small confusion over the jacket. One of the girls she was with was wearing it on the dancefloor at the time Karen went to the bathroom. No bank cards, phone etc in the jacket. The girls were much more concerned with the lack of response to texts and phone calls that night.

The nightclub was wedged. She could easily have not been able to find the girls after going to the bathroom, which could often happen.

This is completely out of character according to the girls. They were all shocked when the story broke about consensually going back to the house in question. None of them know the man in question. They like many, suspect the public arent being told everything. Karen didnt like solo taxi rides due to a previous bad experience. Thats not to say she'd walk home alone either.

The girls are quite impressed with the police so far and have a good deal of confidence in them. Bar the leaks of small details like their address which didnt help, they have confidence this will be resolved soon. They still hold hope

If she walked from his apartment there'd have to be CCTV footage, right? (maybe it's been reported, I'm not up to date on everything)

But if she took a taxi then surely some driver would remember her and come forward?

Please remove this pointless thread. People are of course going to Come up with their own conclusions etc,It is only human Nature. No warnings etc are going to stop that.

*As for banning people for giving their opinion, that is just petite.

If you do not like the comment, why have the open thread for them to comment in the first place.?

I think it was reported that she didn't like to hail cabs alone or travel in them because of a bad experience she had before in a cab.

I think the Police have little tricks when it comes to dealing with cases like this to see how the suspect reacts.

I'm guessing they went along with what he told them acting like they believed him. Tell him that someone claims to have seen her after she left him which throws him as he knows it can't be correct but he can't say anything.

The police can probably tell an awful lot by how he would have reacted to that news. Then release him and send him on his way advising him not to go anywhere and see what he does or where he goes.

I still think this Thread is needless. What purpose does it serve only god knows.

If I remember correctly the Police in Melbourne in the Jill Meagher case were still appealing in the media for information on the man seen talking to her on CCTV while at the same time they knew it was Bayley and they had him under surveillance. They often play mind games with suspects.

    This post has been deleted.

Could be that they suspected the involvement of others and didn't want to spook anyone associated with him. It looks like whatever went on took in quite a distance from his home, they might have suspected someone had helped him or someone close had information they'd be less likely to share if they felt it cast him in a bad light. Seeing as some search areas are closes to his mothers farm I could see that being a possibility.

That's nothing but speculation in regards to this case. All anybody on this thread knows is what has been reported in the media as verified by the police.

Strange that you'd think your post important enough to warrant another post about it.

I speculated, you said all that was in the thread was speculation, I agreed. I don't think it is news to anyone that the thread is all speculation though. Your post was not as revolutionary as you might have thought perhaps.

Yet you didn't pick up that I was criticising the speculation. There's no need for it.

    Oh FFS!

It's great that all you have to worry about is who thanked or didn't thank your posts. Spare a thought for the Buckley family - they have something to worry about.

I think you missed my point. To explain myself: I don't understand why anyone wants to come onto thread and post wild theories about something so serious when they have no more knowledge of the situation other than what has been reported in the media as fact.

His Mother lived near there didn't she? Was his flat close to the farmland/his Mum's house?
