Refugee from another EU country moving to Ireland

    Hi,

I have a question: If a person from outside EU has been granted asylum and given refugee status in an EU country, and given travel documents, what will be his/her status, should s/he decide to move to Ireland?

Will they be treated as a national of the EU country that granted them refugee status, or will they have apply for asylum again here? Or...?

    Thanks.

    As I understand it:

Someone who has been granted refugee status in an EU country is effectively the same as someone who has obtained a work/live visa in that country. They are entitled to reside and work in that country, and travel in and out of that country.

However, it doesn't automatically entitle them to live and work in another EU state, and travel to another EU state may require a visa from that state (depending on the state).

If they wish to move to another EU country, they will have to apply through the standard visa process - they cannot apply for asylum since the asylum condition no longer applies to them.
