Ubuntu from a usb stick

    Hi,
    I created a Ubuntu USB stick,
    I followed the instructions below
    http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop/create-a-usb-stick-on-windows

    Now I have the stick with Ubuntu on it, but when I restart my PC with the stick in the slot, it doesn't pick it up and boot of that, it still goes into windows...

    There is a wubi.exe installer on the key, but it mentions booting from the CD rom only ... :S ...

    I understood one could run ubuntu remotely from the usb stick without installing on my local drive ..

    your computer has a list of what it should boot from and in what order
    eg:
    1. HDD
    2. DVD drive
    3. USB drive
    on some/most/all computers you can temporarily change the order of the list

    what computer/model is it ( dell/asus etc ) ??



    if you've already set the boot order you could try this

    to put the .iso on the USB drive

    Did you change the boot order in the bios first? you need to change it to boot from USB to be first on the list

    OK, changing the boot order on the BIOS has worked ... thanks gus

    speaking of that, is there a good "beginners" guide to linux? ... I know google is my friend here, but recommendations from you guys I trust way more :)
