The problem here is that courts only deal with facts for these types of cases. If you were driving in the bus lane, no matter how short it actually was, there is no way a court is going to overrule a Guard thereby making the Guard (fellow law enforcement) look bad. Even if the judge completely understands your side of the story when you tell it, he also has think of precedent and he won't want lots of people in future making the same argument in court based on their perception of "fairness". That's why I think if it goes to court, there will be only one decision and unfortunately it won't be in your favour.

Hopefully he spelt my address wrong. It's not the easiest to spell.

Fastest way to 57 posts I've ever seen. This thread and the OP has run their course. The time for arguing your case was there and then. Your case is lost, pay the fine and move on.

Sometimes a fine can re-focus the mind, be careful, give up the driving/cigarettes for awhile if you cannot afford the fine because you will be fined. The extra stress on you is not worth it.

No, I accidentally used the bus lane and no I wont give up. :D

How did you "accidentally" use the bus lane?

The unfortunate thing is that by driving in the bus lane, for whatever reason, particularly the reason you gave, still equates to driving in the bus lane.

If you had of been a bit more patient, none of this would have happened.

I know that area very well and have quite often seen the Garda sitting outside the school nabbing people as they drive in the bus lane or for speeding, (restricted speed limit at the school area). I also deal with several of the business' along that stretch of road and I know full well how much it can be a pain trying to get out, but I won't take a chance on a ticket there for the sake of a minute or two.

The only possible chances you have of not being fined is if the notice gets "lost" in the system or you were in the bus lane after 7.00pm.

    And more points

There are no penalty points in the first place for driving in bus lane. It is not considered a road safety offence.

That might be your only hope!

Christ, this place is like a nut house tonight. I thought no one was able to find their way around with the new menu.
